Does anything happen to your ship if you get close to a black hole in eve? Or is it just visual eyecandy.

You get your butt kicked by sleepers because the 'falloff' penalty is actually an optimal range penalty =P
Can anyone else c/d this?

Edited by: Ace Secunda on 10/08/2009 16:59:05 Na, you will be fine, it just effects your speed and inertia and a few other things while you are in the system, class 6 black holes are awesome +100% speed and +100% inertia :D
You turn like a slug but go twice as fast, but it takes 12 years to accelerate to full speed :D

In the early days after Apocrypha, a friend lost a Myrmidon in a black hole w-system due to taking seemingly forever to warp out. He just couldn't seem to get the ship out, even though he wasn't scrambled. We grumbled and speculated about interactions between webs and black holes and vowed never to fight in a black hole system again.
Then we looked at the killmail.
He had accidentally fit a 100MN Afterburner to his Myrm, and it was on at the time he tried to warp out. Even without a black hole penalty, that gives a Freighter-like align time; with the black hole penalty he'd be aligning well into next week.
On the plus side, I'm sure he was travelling very quickly while on fire.
