It's another one of these mosaic images, made up of 120,064 different pilots.
Render time: 310 hours (automated software)
Physical size: Over 7.5 meters wide and 3 meters high (so printing it in real size would give you quite something  ).
For viewing pleasure it is available in different sizes.

To answer, yes your avatar may be mirrored (as the software tries to best fit the avatars and I allowed mirroring), the reason you may find old deleted characters is because I take the avatars from the EVE-Search cache (and I don't delete avatars there) hence why you also may notice avatars that does not look like they do now.
My cache has about 340,000+ avatars so roughly every 3rd character I have is in the image (and yeah not even I made it in, except for alts).
As for more images, well if I find a suitable image to make it won't be a problem, however seeing as this image took about two weeks to render I need to find a image that will look good when done so I don't waste 2 weeks for something that turns out crap

If you are bored enough, you could check what char name had that picture.
CCP Sharkbait, before it got turned into his "normal" avatar. I keep them old cool (such as faceless) avatars as a memory in the EVE-Search cache.
