Hypothetically, what if CCP were to decide in the future that there are enough Eve subscribers that additional servers would be better. Each server will have a different twist on the gameplay mechanics to offer tatical/gameplay variety amongst the servers. What "alternative universes" of Eve would you like to see and how do you think the changes would effect the gameplay?
Here's mine:
Server 1: Tranquility
Server 2: Anarchy: -No local in Null sec. -No super caps -No T2 BPOs Effect: probably the Eve that most players have been asking for a long time.
Server 3: Eternity -no microwarp drives -no webbers -no 100MN AB T3s (T3 would only fit 10MN ABs) Effect: not sure, but curious
What's yours?

Its not about "fixing" anything. Its about after a decade of gameplay some tatical variety would do the game some good. There are alot of ways that the game-mechanics could have been hypothetically setup. The *current* game-mechanics exist because of arbitrary whims of the devs. If they had decided to go a different direction with the game mechanics the game tatics would shift to tatics completely different. I think that its an interesting bit of speculation.
For example: What if the devs had never made MW... and without MW, no webbers... what would game tatics be then? Interesting to speculate.

Nah. This whole, single shard thing was interesting for a while, but Eve doesn't scale well after a point and everything will eventually turn to blobs as the Eve population grows. Imagine when Eve has 100k subscribers at once. Blob warfare is fun for some, but not for many. Even WH space will fall to the blobs eventually when the player-base gets large enough.
When CCP was looking at 40k subscribers and 15k max online, a single shard was essential given the number of systems. But when Eve grows and passess 600k subscribers and 100k online at a given time then the gameplay will become increasing more predictable and boring, IMHO

Were we to find some way to re-open the EVE gate or a similar mechanism that leads us out of New Eden ... well. I can see there would be significant holes opened up in New Eden; vast and empty areas of space and far fewer capsuleers as the enterprising travel to the new universe.
I don't think this will be a good thing, do you?

Actually at 5k-15k online, Eve plays just fine... actually it plays better IMHO.

It was too empty, it didn't quite work. That low a number of people on the server would require NPC's to support the system and that is simply a deal breaker.
I was there too. IMHO the game was more fun and it worked just fine. Low sec was dangerous, but still not permacamped to the point that soloing wasn't suicide. I remember when I routinely could jump from Amarr empire 23 jumps into Stain in an indy for ammo and supply runs and make it most of the time (though it was hairy still and got the blood pumping). There were no jump freighters so supply runs were old fashion indy and wits through null sec. Blob warfare was still used, but wasn't the norm. It was more fun in those days IMHO. Don't know what your talking about NPC "support the system", the player economy was as vibrant as ever and profit margins much better as the markets weren't saturated by low-balling 0.01er.
Those were the days.
