Hello all, i have been missioning for a long time in caldari ships but i have a new alt i am wanting to put into something new. I was thinking minm but not sure what would be best.. My main uses a nighhawk so i was considering gallente at first to just put out drone support. So... i know you all like to argue what is best...ready....GO! lol
thank so much WD

Reason I said raven is because there is no point in trying to fly matari BSs for missions. Maelstrom is the only decent mission runner and thats because of its drones and good tank. Since Artillery and Large ACs are horrid it will take you longer then using a raven.
Gallente would be better bet. With a Domi you can have drones assist your NH while you use the domi for loot/salvage. Also domi can do very well on its own and if you arnt a drone person the mega is always a good choice.

Powerhouse raven hulls aside. As for support goes the Dominix and the Typhoom are strong combatants. For extra gank a Maelstrom would be sweet.
Domi For pure support plesure and laziness, I'd go for the domi with dronesupport only. The 50% DMG bonus is quite charming when set to assist/guard your main char. It can easily hold it's own would it pull aggro and it's not that skill intense either.
Typhoon The phoon is quite versatile and has enough PG to pack on just about everything you need out there in order for support. It also has a good size dronebay, can use both missiles and guns while remote repping or tanking it out.
Maelstrom On the other hand, if you want a more active alt perhaps the Maelstrom would be nice. It pack quite a good punch and has all the right bounus and slot layout for a good mission boat.
Edit: losfer o' words

Minmatar is the worst one as far as missionrunning goes. If you want to try something new go for either Amarr (apoc, abbadon, nightmare as you already have caldary trained) or Gallente (dominix). If you really really want to go minmatar then yeh, malestrom. It will be slower than Amarr or Gallente but it can tank them until they die of boredom.

you wont go far wrong with a typhoon as a mission ship, but you must have good drone and missile skills.
4 cruise launchers, 5 heavy drones or Sentries and 4 utility high slots works very well.
Or if you already have command ship skills, go for a Sleipnir. They **** level 4's

Edited by: Alsyth on 14/08/2009 12:13:38 Edited by: Alsyth on 14/08/2009 12:12:19 Do you plan to tank all the Missions with the Nighthawk and only dps with your alt's ship ?
If so, then every Matar BS is fine.
Since you use a Nighthawk which have a good bonus to kinetic damages, and a huge hole in EM resistance, you probably do mostly kinetic/thermal, thermal/kinetic or kinetic/explosive missions. That's good, because kinetic/explosive and kinetic/thermal is also good for matar ammo. (their EM/kine/explo and EM/kine ammos are not so good for pve)
Before listening to "amarr are best don't ever try matar, it's useless for missionning", consider that amarr BSs are weak for non EM/thermal missions. Matar can deal many different kind of damages, and except in amarr space aigainst sansha/blood, they will in fact outdamage Amarr.
Maelstrom can tank well a spawn with only 3 med slots to tank, and fill the 3 remaining med and 6 low slots with damage/tracking/painting mods. Its turrets are not -that- bad.
Tempest can almost reach the damage output of Maelstrom, but with 2 utility high slots. Or it can outdamage the Mael with missile lauchers. It cannot tank really well when fitted for support-full dps, but if you manage aggro well, it's not that bad. I would personnaly shield tank it like a Mael, with damage and tracking mods in the low slots, and in the high 2 drone link augmentor for instance. Besides, it have a very small signature radius and a very high speed for a BS.
Typhoon is the good choice (among matarr ships) if you want missiles and drones. 4 lauchers, lots of drone, you don't have to bother with optimal and can follow the nighthawk with a shield transporter, a tractor beam and two salvagers (if you salvage only BSs). I would also shield tank it if fitted with both launchers and guns, to let 3 of each damage mods in the low slots -> this way it deals as much damage as a CNR, but with a weaker tank.
Dominix is not fun to fly, but probably as good as the aboves. But as a support ship, I wouldn't fit any guns on it : only utility (shield transporter, salvage, drone augmentor...) and a good dual LAR armor tank will make it as tough as your Nighthawk, you won't have to bother which one have the aggro.
Raven & others are good also, but if you don't want to fly 2 caldari characters, don't force yourself in getting them.
Amarr BSs are good, and even very good, but only vs Sanshas or Blood. Angels are a real pain with lasers.
In fact, your case reminds me of mine. My main currently fly a Drake, my alt a Maelstrom for lvl4 (and I avoid EM), and in the future a Nighthawk will replace the Drake. The Maelstrom is fine for me, because I don't need utility high slots, and it tanks pretty well (though not cap stable : only 4 minutes) if I don't manage the aggro well. I'll probably buy both a Tempest and a Typhoon when I'll have enough missile and drone skills on the alt.

MMM
I would probally get my head cut off for this but i would use a tempest,,,,,,,, OH yes i said it ,,,,, Reason lvl4s require a bs and most of them need you to fly a distance, since minmatar are the speed tanker it works realy well for me,, by the way minmatar ships are to fight on the go not to sit around like a raven that does not fly ... oh with the right skill may take a bit of time YOU can kill frigs with one shot at optimals crusers 2-3 shots when grouped together.
Eve in not just about sitting in a spot and shooting !

Domi, assign drones to assist your NH, done.
AC Mael is a nice angel destroyer though.

If you are tired of flying caladari AFK. get a Torp/AC Typhoon with a faction AB and have some fun.
And from what I hear Sleipnir's are the 'best' Minmatar mission ship. If I had more isk I'd build one.
