Today MissEley66's Badger Mark II was destroyed in Perimeter resulting in the loss of 17.97B ( bilions )!!!
You should be able to find the record on RA kill board.
It seems like bilions of ISKs just sit there waiting to be picked up like cherries. Here is the question. What is that ? Broken game mechanic, expected behavior, or just sleepy pilot puting his badger into auto pilot mode ? I have industrial ship myself, I really appreciate any ideas how to avoid being ganked like that.

Just don't autopilot!
God, it's not actually that hard to avoid the ganking. If your flying 17.97 bill isk worth of stuff around, avoid auto-pilot at all times!
Now, there is now way at all you can make yourself 100% immune to ganking. Just like gankers can't be 100% sure they'll always work.

i cant see the killmail.. would be nice to have it linked.
im' wondering if there were some BPC's in it.
as most killboards see Blueprints as a BPO..
wich someties makes a frigate filled to the notch with BPCs of BSes.. a super kill.. wich actualy only is worth 20 mill..
just wondering.
if its in modules only..

I've hauled multiple t2 bpo's, a ton of HG pirate implant sets, officer gear, dead space fittings all sorts of stuff through high sec.
I've never been suicide ganked, know why? because i'm not a moron.
When I haul expensive stuff I do it in either a VERY fast cloaking ship or something it would take 30 battleships to suicide gank, I expect to be attacked and prepare accordingly, if you dont...well sucks to be you I guess.

I was hauling a half dozen caldari heavy assualt launchers, nothing real real expensive, anyway long story short i wasn't auto piloting however when i got to jita i got distracted by a gate fight for a minute maybe.
That's all it took, some disco lights and hello pod lol. er i mean clone

Hell, I was trying to run about 700 mil in a Badger II and the second I un-docked at Jita 4-4 someone tried to suicide gank me. Luckily I have pretty damn good tank skills on my hauler char and he survived the gank from a BS.
The ganker ended up losing his ship to Concord and the kill mail *****s and I got away with about 10% shields. After that I docked up at a different station and just used my Orca.
If you want to be safe from Ganks with high value stuff, just use a Orca and stick the stuff in the corporate hanger. Anything in the corporate hanger will not drop so it's a waste of time for them to try and gank you. They can't scan the corp hanger either.
Not to mention if you set the Orca up right you will have around 100k tank, which means they need a damn good gank. Avoiding suicide ganks is about making your self a tough enough target to not be bothered with.

Nothing in space is safe in this game. I do agree with the comment that all you have to do is make yourself a less attractive target however...

Especially for Jita, just get into a shuttle and make a bookmark some 500-1000km out. Undock and insta-warp to bookmark. Added advantage for freighters: you will be at zero speed after the warp and turn quickly.

He had 10 Capital Propulsion Engine Blueprints (among other things) and the current Jita market price is about 1.2 billion each, so that's where the figure came from.
The real problem is if you look at his ship fittings. Nothing but cargo expander IIs.
No shield extenders.
No armor plates.
No resist mods.
Just cargo expander IIs.
He could have spent a paltry 100k on basic shield and resist mods and they probably wouldn't have even risked attacking him on fear they'd die before they killed him.

That value is only if they were BPOs, if they were just BPCs then the kill may have been worth around maybe 20 million or so. Killmails don't show the diffrence.

Capital Propulsion Engine are maybe 2.5 million each, if they are Blueprint Copies on contracts. Total estimate looks like 30 million if all those were copies which I bet they were unless there is a confirmation on the exact items. Kill Mails don't know the difference between copies or originals.

Edit: Actually on the shipscan they do show as seperate entities if not stacked, they might be BPO's that aren't stacked though so thats pretty moot.

Well the reason behind the use of a Orca is you can put the valuables in the corp hanger which can't be scanned and doesn't drop loot. That become a deterrence to ganking because if you are smart you don't carry much of anything in the normal cargo bay.
Which means they will likely lose isk to gank you.

Jita has a free natural instant undock already, just warp to the planet straight in front of your ship.
