Try doing x hours where you just run the mission, then do x hours again where you loot and salvage. Compare wallet after each round.
Also since you are near the loot anyway, why not pick up the lesser items. It doesn't cost you more time and they can still be reprocessed and sold, even if they are crap items.

Well but it would great if someone tell me if its better to salvage and loot.. Someone should have tested it already :)

I myself don't run missions but iv got some friends that do and say its worth it. however if you are multiclienting and running threw a mission in 15min , its might not be.

There is, but it's infinitesimally small. If I said there wasn't I would doubtless get someone in after me telling you they got some just last week. Someone wins the lottery every week too.
And for your original question, usually yes, depending on the rats and the mission level.

I loot when i need minerals for ammo/ships. As far as drops go even the small wrecks have a chance of a good drop, once i had a dcu drop that was worth 10mil which i believe was more than total bounties/lp/time bonus added up to.

In my opinion, it is a good habit to get into looting/salvaging all missions after level 2 missions. It has been a while since I ran level 4's, but I remember making a sizable amount of my isk off of the loot/salvage as well as the bounties.
It all depends on how you view wrecks...each one of them is worth an amount of isk...are you cool with leaving that isk behind in order to grab the next mission? I was always a bit obsessive about leaving isk behind. It felt more natural to squeeze a mission for all it is worth before moving to the next one.
Or, if you happen to have two accounts, running one while having an alt run behind you to clean up is the best way to maximize profits.

sorta depends.
if you're just working faction, then no you can prolly knock out another mission by the time you loot / salvage things.
if you're working on your bottom line it depends on how long it's taking you to kill things if you've got an extremely agressive build, then you can prolly make more just doing more missions.
That being said looting everything / and salveageing everything can be very good money. All loot can be reproccessed if you can't sell it for more, and towing around a jet can in your destroyer filling it full of jank loot while your salvageing is a decent bit of change.
So like everything in this game it's up to you to figure out your efficiency. It can be better to just chain missions , it can be better to salvage and loots. The onyl way to realy know is to check your stats and times.

Depends on the npc faction too. Guristas generally drop crap loot and salvage, so it may be worth it to skip the looting and salvaging (which I find as boring as mining) and just go run another mission.
If you get a lot of angel or mercenary missions, then looting and salvaging would probably be more worth while.

Yes, people have tested it, but the results are largely dependent on the player, and cannot always be applied to everyone in all cases. You'll have to test it for yourself because it depends on your skills, on the ships you fly, on the fittings you put on your ships, on the systems in which you fly, on the faction for which you fly, etc., etc.

It depends who you're doing missions for. Sansha, Blood Raider, Angel, Amarr, and Minmatar wrecks have great salvage. "Mission generic" wrecks like mercenaries and EoM drop crap salvage but great loot.
As for faction items, until recently I thought there were only a couple of missions that have the possibility: Worlds Collide (the overseer in the second room, eitehr side) and Angels Extravaganza (in the bonus room). Recently I was looting a L4 mission where you fight Amarr and Caldari ships, and I discovered some faction ammo in one of the caldari ships. So, you never know.

You need to figure out for yourself which missions are worth looting. Mercs, Guristas and Serpentis I generally don't bother with, as they tend to have crap salvage and almost as bad loot. Angels, Sanshas and Blood Raiders I always salvage. Others, it's more of a toss-up - for example, if it's a drone mission and I could use some minerals for making ammo, I'll loot it, and Gone Berserk is always worth looting.

Agreed on the salvage. Never salvage "mission generic" wrecks. Have to disagree on the loot though. Mercs drop some of the best loot in the game.

This is great advice, particularly for types of rats to salvage. I'll the following for new players:
1. Level 1 missions - not much point 2. Level 2 missions - if you're grinding for level 3 missions and don't need the isk, don't bother 3. Level 3 and 4 missions can earn significant income if you're salvaging the dense missions.
Also, note that a significant % of minerals in game come from reprocessed mission rat loot.

It also depends on how efficient you are. Some players may carry a tractor beam to group up the wrecks while they kill the NPC's or wait until NPCs get close before killing them (which is what I always do) It depends on the mission and how hard it is for you though.
Another factor for level 4 missions is the salvage ninjas which is a legal profession in the game.
