I head into a system never ventured into before, I know the possibility of me never making it back out in my current clone is highly likely, but avoidable if IĘm smart. I hit the gate expecting a camp on the other side as all good pvp'rs do, so I prep my nerves and get ready for action. Jump. As the scene loads I check the overview for my possible killers. Nothing. I breath a sigh and stay cloaky and hit the d-scan like a mad man, in fact I may be for taking on these risks. Mega and Prober on scan. Hmmm. Prober could quite possibly be a cyno slave in a pos. Not much of a threat to say the least. Mega, now thatĘs a different story. I think quickly covering all my options. I have come to far now to turn back, although a Mega is a beast of a BS if piloted by a competent capsuler. Kill his drones and kite his dps runs thru my mind. Think, think think. I take the only rational decision a mad man of my caliber could take. I start the hunt.
I warp to the first belt to try and catch the Goliath ratting cause I just received a positive hit on d-scan. Dam, not here. Hmmm, I immediately warp to the 2nd to see him just warping out. Double dam, he knows IĘm looking for him. He will be prepared now. I scan again to see if he docked up at 1 of the 2 stations in system. Confirmed, he is still out here some where. I warp back to the first belt. and come out of warp 10 km from the Megathron. Engage or not to engage is my question to you folks who have read this. Based on cookie cuter fits, would you try and take this mammoth down or run when you first seen it on scan? If he had no friends to come to his aid, how do you think this would have played out? Could you quite possibly HAVE been able to Tracking Disrupt his blasters into uselessness with the CurseĘs bonus and killed his OrgeĘs with your own bonused drones?

Assuming you have some sort of a tank, yes.

Go for it, he can't shoot without cap and if hes in a ratting setup he is unlikely to have an injector fitted. Use the 'look at' function to work out which weapon system he is using. If he rails fitted just go in close and orbit him at 500m and he'll be unable to track you at all, rails would suggest he is PvE setup anyway and should be an easy kill, just get rid of the drones. If he has blasters you can just kite him at 16-18km slowly wearing him down with your neuts and killing pursuing drones with your own. (You can probably kite him by using a tight orbit too if you have a scram or a TD)

Engage with zero risk. Heavy drones can't catch a properly fitted nano Curse, and a Megathron's guns can't hit one once the Megathron is tracking disrupted with the appropriate script (range for blasters, tracking for rails). Orbit at 26-27km, and just wait for it to slowly die. Worst case scenario, you have to use your overwhelming speed advantage to disengage and warp out. ==========

Curse vs any turret ship in a 1v1 fight is stacked heavily in favor of the curse. So much so that I would say it's basically zero risk. You should not hesitate to attack a turreted BS. Drones are the only worry but you have heavily bonused drones of your own, just kill his if they are a problem. -----------------------------------------------------

Edited by: Durzel on 19/08/2009 10:59:11 The above assumes of course the Curse has a TD fitted. A lot of shield-tank fits I've seen posted are variations of 1xLSE2, 2xInvuln and 2xLSE2, 1xInvuln, lesving 3 slots for injector, disruptor and MWD.

Edited by: arbiter reformed on 19/08/2009 11:07:36 curse will solo any bs really, cruises might be hard to speed tank but really its well skilled hml drakes that should worry you. in any case stay at longest range possible (buy domi point) - preferable to close for warpin takle resons-

Preaty easy kill for a Curse in general.
If you run into a dedicated max gank setup you will have to run preaty quick(or die very quick), but the chances this happens are very very small, since this kind of setup got the sledgehammer nerf with QR(60% Web) and even I have given up mostly to make it work solo.

You should never be within blaster range in a curse, if you are you have failed.
Any mega should be a very easy kill for a curse.

If you don't have a TD fit, disruptor range IS blaster range. Large neutrons with Null L hit at 27km+ with falloff.

in a 1vs1 fight curse will win but in a real ingame situation the mega will call his mates for backup. with its EHP it will last long enough :)
