I'm training a skill, but a patch would still be super duper useful.

Even with no skill training you are still learning ..... to always set looooong skills on patch days
Patch hasn't been posted yet, there will undoubtedly be a bazillion threads saying when it is.

So they rolled out the Aprocphia 1.5 patch to the servers and didn't have the patch for the clients ready to go as well? What gives with that? CCP How long till we can log back in?

The last ETA for the end of patch downtime given by CCP was 17.30GMT. The normal website came back so we don't have an updated ETA. In the hour or so before the website came back, the ETA was slipping by 30 minutes every 10 minutes.
Don't hold your breath.

It would be good customer service to make the patch available for download during downtime.
Then again it would be good as well for CCP to make REALISTIC estimate's on down time instead of upsetting their customer base by giving a time, failing to meet that time, giving a new time, failing to meet that time, giving a new time, failing to meet that time, giving a new time, failing to meet that time, giving a new time, failing to meet that time, giving a new time, failing to meet that time, giving a new time, failing to meet that time etc as they have done on so many patch days.
Instead a nice way would be to say yay patch day, servers are off for until 9pm gmt, if we are done earlier we will bring them online ahead of time. That way no upset customers from missed deadlines and possibly happy customers for getting the job done ahead of time. Its hardly rocket science its just being realistic about IT and the possible unexpected issues you can and WILL encounter.

But if the patch were to fail, then you'd have some updated clients out there that may not be able to revert to the previous revision. That patch could change the config of the data cache or the format of some settings file. And there may not be code to "reset" that back to the way it was, who knows.
Better to make sure the server is happy before sending out the patch.

Auto-update should be working at 1730 GMT. That's 18.30 for UK BST and 13.30 EST. ------------------------------------- Read my bio ingame for tips on how to live and not be called nasty names by me. |

What they should do and I hate to say this but copy what blizzard did and use a pre-downloader which downloads most of the patch while you are playing and you get the last bit once the server is live again.
This would mean there servers wouldnt get hit with lots of downloads in a short time and also makes it faster for us gamers to get back in.

Yup exactly they can have the update client download the data but not deploy it until the server gives the ok. That way the people with slow connections (some in my corp have less than 1/2 mbit) can get the patch in a far more reasonable time. This is also very like steams preloading.

Or... you could all finally realize that anything can go wrong during patch day, to always set a long skill training, and to be happy when/if it comes back online at all the same day.
Its patch day for fuck sake, same issues happen with every online game during patch day, and the same whines are posted.
It happens, live with it. ♥

Its patch day sure, I expect them to get it messed up like this, what im bothered about is that they don't manage customers expectation's very well and constantly give a deadline and then fail to meet it. Unexpected things happen I know this working in IT, I also know if I have a leased line/fiber or server outage I set realistic deadlines on restoration times.

The announcement at present says "17:30".
At present, it's about 15:00.
I would assume, somewhere around (or way after) "17:30".

Have they ever not botched a patch time? ---- a reply which adds nothing to a thread or results in a thread being bumped with no new discussion worthy content is considered spam and as such warrants a forum ban |

It's nowhere near 17:30 yet, and, the mac one seems to come out a little later than the PC one from last patch's whines IIRC. You might have to manually grab it from the website.

current version of SISI seems to be compatible with TQ, less they change it before the server comes back up.
