Ebank has been going for a long time and I've basically doubled my money with them in the 3% account. I trust them, and they have alot of people with their names on the lines. That and if their financial reports are to be believed, they are way in the green. (I have .4B in there)

Trust them with my first born? No Trust them with real life money? No Trust them with a sizeable proportion (but never more than I can afford to lose) of my ISK? Yep

You may also want to check out the new Eve Central Reserve bank when they launch. They offer the same 1.5% checking accounts (1 billion isk limit) and also short/medium/long term CD's going up to 3%.

These are really the key points when deciding on any investment in Eve.

Safe for them? Sure. Safe for you? Nope.
Good old Bernie Madoff had a whole swag of customers receiving statements with balances growing.
He had audited accounts showing a profit for his business and practices.
In the short of things... enter into any business relationship either knowing their real life home address so you (potentially) could kill their pets if they f@#$ you over... or expect to lose it all.
That way you will never know the bitter taste of disapointment.

I've recently invested about a 3rd of my spare change. Split between Ebank and Ihatalo Financial. I have to say I'm way more impressed with Ihatalo's presentation and website, even though their holdings are much smaller in comparison to Ebank. Ihatalo also offers a 3% account, which new Ebank users can no longer get, as the maximum they offer in an account is currently 1.5%. But I feel pretty secure in both institutions. I do know people in Ihatalo, so whereas some people may think they're too "noname" I have confidence in their abilities. I would really like to see Ebank re-institute a 3% account, but perhaps they pulled that perk in an effort to recover from the last fraud they suffered? I don't know.

The 3% savings accounts have been gone for a LONG time, well before any fraud happened. Also, how much isk do these guys hold that do offer 3%. Most don't know this because most don't have a large sum of isk, but the more isk you have the harder it is to use it all and keep returns high.

That makes sense. Yes Ihatalo only have a fraction in savings that Ebank has. I've often wondered how diversified and difficult it must be to make these returns.

thx for all replys, has been alot of help. Have decided to give Ihatalo a try, 3% per month intrest and its payed out daily sounded very tempting. But also cant ignore Ebanks good name and high isk holdings, if only they brought back the 3% savings accounts ^.^ |

your wallet is perfectly safe to store isk.
eBank is evidently not safe as someone just stole FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS from the organisation.
thye give you what? 1.5% per month. if you put 1 BILLION in there you get 15 million. do you know how easy it is to make 15M from 1B in EvE you just sat in jita for like 10 minutes and you make that much.
ricdic used to be a trusted member with his name on the line, that didnt stop him from whoring money, RMT'iing it and then using his son's sickness as an excuse for thievery.

MeSo, I agree with you regarding a player's wallet being the safest place for their money, and I'd also agree that 1.5% per month is fairly easy to beat.
What I don't agree with is your assertion that EBANK is insecure because Ricdic stole several billion ISK. If anything, the theft proved that the bank had decent safeguards in place, and was able to weather the crises. No player has lost ISK from their EBANK account.
Giving money to another player or a player-run organization (and expecting to get it back) is inherently risky, and there are no safeguards. But EBANK is probably the safest player-run organization out there. -----------------------------------------------

Simply put, no. Each time the value of assets Ebank holds rises, each time a new director is introduced or an older one gets tired of playing Eve and decides to convert your ISK into real currency, there's your risk. We saw that with Ricdic, and I can guarantee you we'll see it again. With the way the real world economy is, sooner than later.
When the total assets held rises to the point multiple holders decide to run with it, or a scheme is carried out to bring in alts/friends as directors with a coordinated effort of clearing out a large % of assets, people will lose their ISK. I've played Eve long enough that I don't touch things like that. As someone else said you can easily earn much higher returns on your ISK through other means, even passively; I don't see the point of the risk.
The only bank I would ever trust in EVE would have to be solely run by Chribba, period. 'Til then my ISK is earning much more than 1.5% by other, less risky, means where I am completely in control.
Keep in mind there are players on this forum who were once called "paranoid" but can now say, "I told you so," about Ricdic.

Safe is such a binary concept. Technically your isk is not safe if it is not in your wallet. There's a concept called 'risk vs reward' which covers all of this. What you should really be asking is, "Is the risk involved with investing in EBANK small enough to justify a 1.5%/month return."
As far as an answer to that question, I don't have enough isk to make 1.5% worth it, as I can make more by myself with fairly little work.
