What y'all running whose getting the errors? Pre-intel? Intel? PowerPC?
I'm running a 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Mac OS X 10.5.7. My patched failed.

Originally by: Elesentra What dates were the 84244 patch the current version for? So I know how far back to go in Time Machine to hoik it out and use the patcher someone mentioned works..
Can you grab a specific application from time machine and restore it, or do you have to restore the entire restore point?

Permission repair only repairs ... permissions. And only on system files or files for which Apple knows what the permissions are supposed to be. The EvE client is neither. Also the .nib permissions are 755 and the failing checksum files are 644, both with me as user and staff as group. Therefore permissions are not the issue here as the patcher was run from my account and got both r and w flags on everithing. Besides, yes: I run a permission repair each time there's an upgrade from Apple.
I ran a permissions repair last night, so yeah, that's not it. |

I expect these are the ones for whome the patch applied without a problem.
Why would the patch apply without a problem for some people. We all downloaded exactly the same patch, for exactly the same game, why would it work for some and not for others?
There may be several reasons. And this has happened in the past, but CCP/TG never explained exactly why it happens, so we can only guess.
- multiple versions of a patch? (like the patch in the early two days after deployment being different than the patch that was online later) - differences in the "full install" disk images? (like someone that had last full install in march being different than someone doing it later) - minmatar technology?
I would have been very surprised if had worked for no one. I expect that they tested the patch on macs at CCP and they worked. Frankly, I'm surprised that patches work as often as they do, with all the variables from machine to machine.

Originally by: Elesentra Okay - this may help some people who have time machine or another backup system in place.
I rolled my Eve Online client back to May 25th, (happens to be version 88974) using Time Machine, then launched it. The Autopatcher downloaded patch 88974-94178. This WORKED for me, and I now have a working client on Tranquility.
Someone else got version 84244 to auto-patch also (see above)....
So, the problem seems to be specifically related to the patch file from yesterday's current version to todays. If you can find a backup of an older client, try restoring from that and then auto-patching.
Good luck - I'm off to fly my Mega :-)
GREAT IDEA and great use of our beloved time-machine!!!! WORKED FOR ME ... although it was from 20th May :)
That's great! Too bad I only started using Time Machine about 3 weeks ago...

Do you want to go to support page?"

Well, while I have all you fellow Mac users here, now many of you run two accounts simultaneously in windowed mode? I have two accounts and would like to try this.
I hope we find out what actually caused the problem. I'd be interested to know.

I have been running two accounts in windowed mode for a while now and haven't had much hassle with it.
How do you do it? How do you launch two instances of the EvE client simultaneously?
