Originally by: kieron Soon has been used by probably every game company out there at some point in time or another. However, as Eris pointed out, CCP was the first to throw the Ö after it and actually market stuff with it (SoonÖ t-shirt) or see the Ö version get general use among the Devs and players.
I don't believe CCP has actually trademarked "SoonÖ" though.
In the UK at least it's illegal to say that something is trademarked (with the Ö sign) when it isn't. (It has to be a registered trademark).

Did the soonÖ start back during ORB? i didn't know that
PS was also a beta tester for ORB and that game wasn't that bad when it was FREE.
I followed that game all thru development, was one of initial people registered on their forums. I was pleased at first when it came out, but the marketing and online portion of the game tanked and then slowly killed it. We used to tease their main developer, BlackBox, about the use of the word SoonÖ . . . eventually banning the word (as a joke) and changing it to Suen . . . lol. those were the days. I was happy though when the makers put my name in the booklet.
