Sounds like the CCP group used to play MultiPlayer BattleTech, since we all know that Kesmai was the original owner of the dreaded "soon"!

Soon has been used by probably every game company out there at some point in time or another. However, as Eris pointed out, CCP was the first to throw the Ö after it and actually market stuff with it (SoonÖ t-shirt) or see the Ö version get general use among the Devs and players.
I don't believe CCP has actually trademarked "SoonÖ" though.

soon (don't know how to make the TM symbol) was like the death knell for earth and beyond. It became a real sore spot for most of the player base.

The TM symbol is made by holding down the Alt key and pressing 0 1 5 3. As for the death knell of E&B, there were many other factors surrounding the demise of the game. The E&B Devs' use of the word Soon may have been a symptom, but it wasn't the cause.

Edited by: Namelesz on 13/10/2004 23:28:27 Actually "SOONÖ" was givin that 'TM' way back years ago to a little game called ORB. And that was back dating the early alpha/beta stages of testing it, and I know as I was a tester of that game. Such a disappointment it flopped, luckily the same fate did not hit EvE.

Nekuva, I don't have anything to do with the descision to shut EVE down, if that is ever to come about. I do know that EVE is slated for at least another 5-7 years though. We're just introducing TL2 stuff, haven't touched on the Jovians much, and there is a lot more content left.
Bunny Wunny, shipping to the UK is taking about 5-7 days.
Namelesz, I stand corrected. Thanks for pointing that out. But we still have dibs on marketing Ö'ed stuff first!

Interesting if you did copyright 'soonÖ', since then it would have to be 'soonÖÖ'
and then if you copyrighted that, it would be 'soonÖÖÖ'...and so on...

kieron may I suggest that you get that or at least, a less-specific version of that, in the Features section of the Eve website.
I would assume that there are alot of people still just discovering this game, even though the game has been out for a year-and-a-half. Some of these people might assume that it is simply too late to join the game if they wanted to be in it for the long haul.
After only stumbling upon the website myself at 8 months after launch, this was already a concern of mine. After I got past this initial hesitation (as the game looked 'too good to be true') I learnt that this was not necessarily the case, however I would assume there are others who did not sign up because of this factor.
Anyway, it is just as suggestion that may attract some more players to the game.

Ö means trade mark not copyright, ® means copyright so it would be soonÖ®.
Did the soonÖ start back during ORB? i didn't know that
PS was also a beta tester for ORB and that game wasn't that bad when it was FREE.
