I followed the instructions for connecting to Singularity, and I seemed to have connected successfully, except that it took a while for it to "check status" before reporting: SERVER: TEST SERVER (SINGULARITY) STATUS: UNKNOWN
When I try to log in it waits, saying "establish connecting to server", before giving me this error: CONNECTION FAILED Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong.
I first tried making a new directory for the Singularity client and using that instead, but when that failed to help, I did a huge amount of google searching. I ran across the "work-around" to put the Singularity server IP in your prefs.ini file, which also had the same result. Then I set it to use the back-up port (3724). No change.
Thinking singularity was down, I checked http://www.eve-offline.net/?server=singularity, which claims that Singularity is up. All the evidence points to something being wrong with the Singularity server, but all the posts about this problem are ancient!
I really, really want to try out Singularity, and this is driving me nuts! Help me!

Dont trust the server status as they arent always updated,
If it says unknown and you have followed the guide step by step then its something wrong on your side.

best way to know the exact status of singularity is to log into IRC and join the #eve-chaos channel (note you have to be registered if i remember right).
Then you can ask in channel or if the dev/qa bot is still there you can use it to get server status. The bot name is ECAID and to get singularity status just type .sisi in the IRC channel and the bot should reply to you with current server status including current build numbers.

There was an hour warning before the server went down that there would be an unscheduled reboot. However, as we all know reboots usually take a few hours for sisi, so just be patient. Worst case scenario? No sisi for a month or 2. __________________________________________________

I checked the status on the IRC channel and it says that sisi is down, so at least I know I didn't do something wrong! Thanks everyone!

Edited by: Minearock on 24/08/2009 22:30:26 Argh, now the bot on IRC says it's online, but I still have the same error! Why can't I connect?
By the way, did you know that it's possible to browse the internet with only a keyboard? It's kinda slow, but I'm doing it right now :D

Found the problem, it was PeerGuardian!!! If anyone else has this problem disable PeerGuardian and save yourself countless hours of annoyance!
