Edited by: Ukiah on 15/10/2004 21:15:23 There are a number of 'mispronunciations' that annoy the hell outta me
Iteron is NOT eye-TEAR-e-on Bestower is NOT bee-STOW(rhymes with cow)-er Minmatar is NOT min-MATTER
I've also heard people pronounce 'Gallente' with the L's pronounced as Y's, as in '***ente'. That's pretty annoying too.
But THE most annoying pronunciation is when my own corpmates mispronounce my name on voice chat
It's NOT the following: U-keeeeyah (like Nokia) Yu-gi-oh (like the cartoon)
It IS:
you-KIE-uh
**Edit - Uh, apparently G-A-Y-Y-E-N-T-E is muffed by the filter......

I hope you all use the english way of speaking when using the
gall-an-tee (english way)
gah-lan-teh (for english people to say "gallente" in dutch)
but for dutch to say gallente i would write "gal-len-teh" but we dutch will pronounce it the english way.

Oh, and the correct spelling would probably help: Ath¨le Snanm

OK, I will weigh in with a mid-Western American accent with hints of other accents :
Gallente: Ga-lenÆ-tay (first vowel as in ask, second vowel as in lent, last vowel as in way) or Guh-lanÆ-tee (first vowel as in bug, last two vowels as in Jimmy Duranty)
Khanid: KahÆ-nid (first vowel as in Genghis Khan, second vowel as in did)
Yulai: YouÆ-lie (with vowels as spelled)
Quafe: Kwahf (with vowel as in saw, or like the English word quaff.)
Amarr: Uh-marÆ (first vowel as in bug or American, second vowel as in are)
Ammatar: AmÆ-muhÆ-tar (first vowels as in ask, second vowel is in bug, third vowel as in tar Minmatar: MinÆ-muhÆ-tar (first vowel as in ôinö)
Caracal: KairÆ-uh-kuhlÆ (first vowel as in air, second and third as in bug)

if gallente is a french name, and was pronounced GAL-EN-TAY then the last e would have an accent above it. Gallente`
