When running two copies of Eve, I randomly get a BSOD stating Bad_Pool_Call to be the reason. My two versions of Eve are in seperate folders and each has the sun occlusion turned off. This has only started happening since installing XP service pack 2. Any isdeas anyone?
I have:
P4 2.8 Ghz running at 3.04GHz GF4 FX5600 128Mb SB Audigy 2 1GB PC 2700 RAM
..and a sore foot from kicking it after it crashing the 3rd time in an hour. Please Help

BAD_POOL_CALLER (or Stop Message 0xC2) means that a kernel-mode process or driver incorrectly attempted to perform memory operations. Typically, a faulty driver or buggy software causes this.
Originally by: Microsoft Resolving the Problem The following suggestions are specific to Stop 0xC2 errors.
A Stop 0xC2 message might occur after installing a faulty device driver, system service, or firmware. If a Stop message lists a driver by name, disable, remove, or roll back the driver to correct the problem. If disabling or removing drivers resolves the issues, contact the manufacturer about a possible update. Using updated software is especially important for multimedia applications, antivirus scanners, DVD playback, and CD mastering tools.
A Stop 0xC2 message might also be due to failing or defective hardware. If a Stop message points to a category of devices (such as disk controllers, for example), try removing or replacing the hardware to determine if it is causing the problem.
If you encounter a Stop 0xC2 message while upgrading to Windows XP Professional, the problem might be due to an incompatible driver, system service, virus scanner, or backup. To avoid problems while upgrading, simplify your hardware configuration and remove all third-party device drivers and system services (including virus scanners) prior to running setup. After you have successfully installed Windows XP Professional, contact the hardware manufacturer to obtain compatible updates.

Edited by: Qwakrz on 15/10/2004 19:01:30 This error has been highlighted before. A few people reported it & they all had one thing in common.
Soundblaster Soundcards.
It may be worth a try to use the WHQL drivers available from, I believe windows update or CLabs.

Thanks guys, I did get the latest sound drivers from Creative but still get the BSOD. Gonna try Nvidia for their latest offerings. It really only happens when I have two copies of Eve. One is fine and all other games and apps are fine.

As a general rule of thumb, I would not recommend running two copies of any MMORPG client on the same computer, even EVE. All MMORPGs are intrinsically unstable on both sides, and the only thing the developers can realistically do is offer a guarantee that a game that's gone gold will not crash for a reasonable period on a properly working computer as long as it's unmodified and you use it only in the way it was intended.
By 'reasonable period', the leeway we're talking about is quite long for EVE surprisingly, but eventually everything goes.
Only reason I can think of for a person to run two copies of EVE is because they want to use two separate subscriptions. Which is technically illegal of course under the EULA.

If it is illegal under the EULA then why did CCP promote people doing this in their "power of 2" campaign and why did the devs say running multiple accounts is not an exploit in one of the forums/dev chats?

It is not breaking the EULA to own or run 2 EVE accounts, either on the same of diffrent PC's. |Father of 1|Master of All| |

Edited by: Carinae on 21/10/2004 13:13:42 I had an issue with EVE, whenever a ship warped nearby, or a missile hit me, my comp would re-start. I have since picked up a hint than my turning the sound off during play stops this, I did, it does.
Use Shift+CTRL+Alt+F12 during play to remove sound.
I too have a Soundblaster compatible device..... hope it works

OK,
As of this posting I have corrected the issue that I had with running 2 accounts at the same time as I used to be able to without any problem but recently started Causing BSOD in less than 2 minutes while both accounts were at the same belt.
Cause of Problem: Service Pack 2 Solution: Roll Back or format your HD as I did and patch upto only SP1.
As of this post I have been testing for 1 hour 45 minutes without error. I think that fixed the issue. This will not help everyone with the problem as some seem to be related to sound card/driver issues, but it did fix the issue I had.

Jehova is right about the cause, buggy software or drivers. What he didnt point out is that both Creative and CCP are having buggy software in this matter. Creatives' audigy/live drivers are notoriously unstable and has caused numerous headaches for hardware and software developers around the world. But they managed to cope, since Creative were FIRST with their **** and holds a significant market share. So please, CCP, cope!

I've been having the same problem (just posted about it on the EVE-I forums), and also have a Creative sound card. I suspected it was a sound driver problem since I only started getting the BSOD's after I recently upgraded my sound card drivers from a very old version. I haven't tried turning sound off yet, but I'll try that next. Since I really only "need" sound on one of the accounts, I wonder if turning it off on just one would fix the problem.
I really don't want to roll back SP2 just for this problem. If I have to I'll cancel my second account, but I'm not ready to give up yet ;).
Anyone have any other ideas?
Thanks.

Solutions I found when having the same problem was,
1. Turn off sound in every eve-client. 2. Reroll to SP1a. 3. Use WHQL-drivers for your soundcard.

I had the same problem as well when running EVE and the Shiva test server at the same time. The weird thing is that I didn't have any problem the first time I tried it.. I ran both for hours and never got the BSOD. But recently when I have tried again, I get the BSOD soon after running both.
It's not that big of a problem with me though because I only do it now to test Shiva/Exodus while I'm in EVE. Once Exodus is released, I won't have a reason to run 2 since I've only got one account.
It is strange that it just started happening though.. I think it started for me right after one of the Shiva patches.
