After i copied, then ran the shiva singularity patch. When i lauch eve i get a black window. if i hunt around i can hit accept. but then i get some crezy nentendo look'n graphics (you know when before you blew into the cartrage) I can then hunt around some more and put my username and pass in. But once i actually get into eve, Its just a black screen with a light light down the middle. Now ive recopied and repatched a few times now. And ive got the latest versions of ATi drivers and DirectX. Current EVE runs fine. No one else seems to have gotten this problem. Ive also cleared the cache folder, still no help. Any suggestion would be helpful.

I had that too. you need to run the eve.exe in windows 98 compatibility mode. Right click on the eve.exe, select properties and go to the compaibility tab. set it there..should work fine after that.

Originally by: Joshua Calvert I get the same thing but only if I've got Yahoo! Messenger running.
I dont run yahoo, aim, or msn. I would do a fresh reboot, and w/o anything else running I tried launching the game.
about 98 compatiblity, why would i ahve to do that? the game was built to run in win2k+ .. sounds odd that it would go backwards like that, unless they just dont have the graphics changes totally completed.
I will try that however and see what happends

Mine has a huge hole in its head where its right eye and cheek should be. Could the Radeon bugs be back?

Edited by: Randuin MaraL on 20/10/2004 07:59:37 I have some graphical glitches - like agents texts not visible but blurred to the extreme, no other applications running besides of the system services I keep running with Castor. Might that my graphic card does not allow me to use that "+8-bit thingy". Castor allows to run EVE without, Shiva does only allow "+8-bit thingy" settings. ____________________________________________________

Well, after applying the last Shiva patch I get graphic errors too.
When opening the fitting in a station the green/red online indicators of the modules are everywhere but not where they should be.
In space the cap indicator only shows the first block and all the other blocks are somewhere on (or off) the screen.
I am running in window mode 1280x1024 and I tried every resolution (e.g. 1024x768) but the gfx elements are not where they should be.
I have tried to switch to full screen but that just fails with black-screen or with a eve-client crash. Also the eve-client crashes after a while and I guess the reason are the screwed gfx elements.
I am using a ATI 9800 pro with the latest WHQL driver (4.10) Direct 9.0c WinXP Home SP1 and the problem was not there before the last patch
I have to note that I deleted the whole Eve/Cache directory before testing the last patch but that should not corrupt the gfx elements.

Also the z-buffer bug with textures mixing is also STILL not fixed.! --- soonÖ |

It was the latest patch that caused the UI weirdness.
And as for 'written for 2k', WRONG. It was written for 98, and CAN run on 2k. I think XP has no probs, but then again, I run 98SE.

I'm getting the same thing, but am running windows 2000, so I don't think I have the compatability mode option.
I've downloaded the whole program again (that was fun) and it still won't work. I've killed all programs running but that hasn't helped.
I'm running an Radeon 9800Pro. Has anyone managed to fix this on Windows 2000?
