Adding 5 - 10 new slots and office spaces to every station. Untill people have to ability to create stations I believe this would be a good fix.

Another Great Idea would be public slots. 5 - 10 Slots owned by the Schools or factions at a station That anyone could use. You just pay to get in line to use. You could create a Que line so people would pay to have a time slot. come back and use it when it is there turn. I think would let newbies be able to use slots too. Even in the near future if CCP wants more users there is always going to be a shortage of slots, no matter how much they add now or raise the price. Any comments on this???

I like the idea of queued slots that no one can hold up. It would need to have a limit of how many you can do in a row too, so people don't effectively rent them by setting a super high number of builds...But sounds reasonable to me.

How about public slots that let you do one run, or 2 hours max before it ejects your BP. .

Honestly I don't see why you can't rent your slots when you're not using them...
I mean each slot could have a isk/hour charge that is settable by the owner.
That way, yeah someone can hoard slots, but I could still pay someone to use it.
Now people could then use slots and just pay the rent...there then would be price wars and the people benifiting would be everyone.
People who use slots infrequently can rent a slot from someone else but don't have to incure the cost of owning one...and the owner of the slot will make some money...heck maybe alot.
*Edit: Please also allow us to know the name of the person/corp who owns the slot.

Even Better would be unlimited slots at factory and Lab Stations.

Public slots with a queue system would be great. But I still think people should be able to own slots that they could 'rent' out to people at an ISK/hour rate... '

I think the salution is simple raise the rent to like 250k a week. Then the ones people dont use will be unrented. Cause they dont want to pay. Also realisticly the Megacorps wouldn't want the people renting them to make millions off them. They would raise the price so they made the profit. And if you think this is a high price it is not i can make 250k in 20mins buy mining. Corps and players only really need about 4 slots of each. Not whole stations. so the cost would be fare.

These will be grabbed up by greedy players who in my opinion want something for nothing. The slots are available to anyone when free. They get rented and then sit unused. I am afraid the idea of a lab or factory sitting around unused is ridiculous.

Rent was already jacked up a lot.
I would not mind if rent were jacked up again, on one condition:
Allow people to sublease their slots. This way factory owners can make back some of their slot mainenance costs by renting them out to others. My corp wants to set up bases of operation in each empire's space. Every week or two we'd travel between them. With such a setup, we'd have a bunch of unused slots. I have no problem whatsoever with renting these slots out to others when they're not being used, if I can be guaranteed that in a week or two I can regain access to the slots.
To avoid griefing, the sublease rent could be capped at less than the base rent of the slot, so there was no chance for profit to be made, just an opportunity to reduce costs by allowing someone else to use an unused slots. ---------------- Blue Screen of Death CEO Exodus Enterprises |

Factory slots need to be limited in each station.
Increasing the rent on the slots should help in freeing up those slots which are not used. Continued increase in the cost of the slots will have a counter effect by prohibiting the new players from being able to get into the building world. Imagine the disappointment of the character who just managed to get a few thousand ISK to get their first Blue Print, only to find out it is going to cost them 250k ISK to rent a slot for a month. As it stands now, the costs will prohibit the truly new from getting into the building aspect of the game at an early time.
Perhaps a good fix would be to force renewal of slot rental to be done in person at the individual stations. This way, if the slots are truly being used, it should not be a problem to pay in person. If the slots are not being used at the current time, but are of importance to keep, then a once a month trip to the slot should be warranted. This method would either force the squatters to spend lots of time traveling from station to station, or they would just have to give it up.
