I was in ED in the beginning of 2009, before the war with RA started, I was in every campaign large and small to fight off RA+friends.
I can say that most 'press' goes to Goons 'Great war for Delve II' where as some of the most epic battles took place in Etherium Reach, with ED leading the charge with IRC.
RA was nearly wiped off the face of EVE, but now they have come back in a strong way.
I just wanted to say, ED 'had their moment of greatness', but that all died when IRC collapsed almost without ANY fights, when xDeath invaded IRC. By than ED was spent, tired and done. All IRC did was complain about how ED wasn't to come to their rescue, which just shows what pu**y of an alliance IRC was and probably still is...
Then ED holding pride high moved most corps (2-3 corps left after ER evac) to Curse. They wanted to make a 'come back'.
But, the fire burned out of ED after xDeath+RA+russians kicked em out of ER. That is what they will be remember for...
The eviction from Curse may or may NOT be the final BLOW to ED as an alliance... but there are two clear distinctions to keep in mind with the debate of whether ED sucks or not...
ED fought against 20+ alliances basically on their own back in the RA war, they lost in a major way. If I was ED I would have taken that 'Glory' even though defeated, and been remembered as the Alliance that beat all the odds, in terms of time it took and number of alliances it took to finally take their space.
Everything after this fact, will only tarnish, erode and eventually make forgotten the great war that ED fought with RA in ER.
Just my opinion...

The guy 2 posts above mine you may be saying how proud ED should of been but it's more the irony that all the decent people must of left who actually played the game with some class and respect rather than letting themselves be kicked around by a small alliance and it's merry men.
Still no hard feeling hmm ED is off to go die some more and IRC will be like hey where's my cannon fodder and ask BG to come join them.
Also lol at BG they sucked most of all hiding in the back system ratting 23/7 unless we stuck a recon in there and as soon as they thought we we're afk we jumped their ratting ships.
Oh the joys of making a fat boy emo rage

ED alliance never rented space.. i saw this mentioned somewhere in this thread.
Let me take you back a bit and tell you about the history of Ethereal Dawn. ED started out as a small carebear alliance under the leadership of an incredible warm hearted person called Soli. they were small. 100 people or so and living in low sec near Rahadalon or something like that.
I met Soli because we were pirating their members. we got to talking and sometime after that The Establishment and Veto together with Ethereal Dawn and my alliance Atrocitas ended up attacking a station in Providence owned by UShra khan. It was loads of fun. ISS hired the MC against us.. that takes me back haha Afterwards me and Soli talked about owning space. the drone regions were just created and still unclaimed.
My corp left the atrocitas and we joined ED and Soli and I ran it together. he took care of the industrial side and social management ( i dont play well with others) and i managed the PVP part. we decided to give owning space a shot.. we ratted our asses of in 5e in curse to get isk for an outpost. we build our first outpost in the drone region.I brokered a deal with Vilerat, in exchange for cheap carriers they would leave ED be and with Goons at peace RA follwed suit. allthough conditions were perfect for expansion there was much internal unrest. and Soli and myself were burned out. Lots of drama later ( i hold no grudges and thats not the point of this reply) my corp left and reformed atrocitas and Soli took a break from Eve. shortly after the temp leadership left too and Ralian took over.
He was giving an alliance with great potential in an area still udnerdeveloped, but with lots of internal problems and distrust. IRC was not a mayor player back then, nor was xxdeatch or the Solar's. He took ED alliance that counted 225 people at the time and made it grow into a mature alliance with over 2000 members. their region was secured and they could hold their own. well done!!
I allways kept an interest in their endevours because of my involvement early on and they were doing great against RA and Co before Goons and others joined in and the numbers against them were just too overwhelming. still they fought, but losing that war was inevitable.
after that the alliance started lose members.. spirit was down..inactive members etc.. they tried something in curse and blade beat them there..
All blade did was kick em when they were down.. Not worth all this chestbeating in my opnion. ED is a great alliance, i wish them all the best and i hope you guys get back on top.

Rents when you Pay isk, exchanging assets like carriers could be considered diplomatic trade, its also something that mutually benfited both at the time,
Also he said they wasnt giving the Carriers away, he just sold them for cheaper, i see no way that could be "Renting" |

it was a cheap deal for them. a sweetner in diplomacy so to speak. no rent was paid..
did blade ever own space? otherwise you would know that that is how deals/treaties are made sometimes.

how long did you own space? ED hold on to theirs for 2,5 years.
it does not matter. ED haver rented and they fought of a lot of different alliances in the time they where there. fighting the largest power block in eve assisted by RA and friends is not doable for any alliance in eve right now..

Terrible attitude, you're giving up before giving it a thorough shot. Ethereal dawn grew too quickly to be a solid powerbloc. The only way to consolidate numbers and improve in skill, is a gradual program. You recruit people, review their performance, kick/keep them, and recruit a few more people. You don't just chuck up a "LOOKING FOR LARGE MINING CORPORATIONS" ad on the recruitment forums, that is bound to get you ****ty members.
RA is a challenge, their allies are temporary. Anything in killable in eve, it just takes a bit of bloody willpower.

ED was second only to IAC in my favorite alliances I've ever been in. ED had incredibly solid leaders and great corps. No alliance that didn't have that could have lived for 4 months under duress like we did under pressure.
ED's problem was IRC. Which was my first 0.0 alliance. It was doomed to fail. ED's fault was being 100% loyal to an ally led by idiots (Oldman, Dribble).
But, no regrets, got months of great fights.
I will always have nothing but absolute respect for ED. And nothing but contempt for IRC.

Why must we fight guys? :( There are much bigger alliances out there that need taking down.
I say we all start a new alliance and have our corps join it! A re-org with a new leadership structure with the goal of taking space for ourselves and be one big happy family!
We can take some 0.0 space and work on getting ready for the next expansion because lets face it, from what I've read about the new stuff its going to be harder to take sov after Dominion.
Who's with me! Round table discussion at 2300 EVE time? :)

Simple get good or go find what isk you have bride a bigger alliance like goonswarm to hot drop us and camp us into a station until we leave your sorry asses alone seeing as without your massive friendly list you are useless tools in pvp.

I'm not sure what you are trying to say Cheekything. I feel like you are trying to troll but that was not the intent of my post, to fuel that fire. The corp I am in recently joined the alliance with no knowledge of anything that had been going on and frankly we don't care what happened between you guys. It's just a small part of the grand scheme of this game.
In the end though arguing doesn't about who is good and who isn't good doesn't help anyone get better, lol. I of course was kidding around since there just seems to be too much dislike on both sides to be able to reorg and work on a better tomorrow but it is something to think about. I don't know what Blade. goals are in EVE but why go and try to burn bridges with people like myself when I did absolutely nothing against you? I have no problem with you and why should I? I see you and everyone else in this game as a potential friend, not as an enemy. Someone who I could eventually talk to and find out that our goals are similar to the point where we could join forces one day and make something of ourselves.

Quoted for Truth.
Seriously, ED find those FCs however you can and bring them back to nullsec, Domin patch means more hopefully smaller, bite-sized, asskickable, non-richerthanGod enemies.
And IRC was your downfall, you were loyal, and so were they...to the their older friends...the enemy.

Everyone was once "TERRIBAD". Also, wouldn't you rather want challenging fights then easy ones? If you train your enemy in the art of war as a friend they can become better. Then later on you can fight them for a better challenge. :)
