I've played EVE for around 30 months and I've trained continously.
Where does that place me, in terms of skillz? At around the 10th percentile mark? 25th percentile? Where? Is there some kind of CCP-published statistic of pilot ages and pilot total skill points? I'd kinda like to know how I measure up.
(I'm not good at anything in particular, in EVE. I'm somewhat of a generalist...)

The older QENs (Quarterly Economic Newsletter) had some "x pilots between y and z SP" statistics, if you rummage around to find them, those are pretty damn official. But for "unofficial", well, you can look at ineve.net (when it's working), a sizeable portion of players do use it, so it's good enough for "guesstimation" purposes.

Don't most InEVE pilots have their skill data kept secret? I probably should keep mine secret, but I don't remember if I actually am... Given my generalist tendencies, it can' be regarded as strategically sensitiveinformation.

Actual individual skill levels, maybe, but total SP and even total SP per skill category, that's public.

I remember hearing that the average character is about 8 months old, so that's around 8 - 10 million SP on the average character afaik. However, on another note, I now have one of those annoying sigs. |

Do most pilots train optimally? I mean, go hard on Learning skillz and buy +4 implants?
I went real hard on my alt, which I made in March this year, so I know he's gaining a lot more SP per month than my main was when he was new.

Edited by: RavenPaine on 11/09/2009 22:13:36 I think most pilots will do more like what you did . The first Char will be all spread out , but the second will be focused and learn faster.
As for In-Eve as an "Intel" base on your skills . Most PvP happens fast and players wont have time to check In-Eve .Even if they did it wont show your current fittings or give them some kind of massive advantage.

It would be interesting to see a breakdown of SPs and pilots with all the facts and figures. But short of that, as Akita T mentioned, you can view characters at ineve.net and by clicking "Personal Stats", can see where they fit. Eve-Sheet.com does the same sorta thing.
Neither are perfect as "ranking" can only be compared with how many are registered on the site, but there are many characters on there so it's not unreasonable to assume that a fair representation of the Eve population is on there. Exact numbers therefore should be taken with a pinch of salt, but as a general guide to percentages, it's probably quite close.
With thanks to the above poster, that first PDF shows about 288k active accounts with around 660k characters altogether. About 120 of those have over 100m skill points. Anyway, if you aren't registered on in-eve.net, there's no harm in putting yourself on there (and you can hide your skillz if your paranoid about your enemies learning your weaknesses, strengths or some such). Look at your own personal stats and you can see your own ranking. Then compare that with 660k for a percentage. -------------
