I think they'll replace the planets with a black circle decal, within which will be written 'insert imagination here'. Oh wait... that's the bug you'll see on release. My bad.
I'm hoping for truely epic jaw dropping awesomeness, but I'm not going to attach any emotions to that hope.

I hope they update the backgrounds in all the systems aswell.
I heared rumours of Nebula's thats ude be able to see from many different systems and that you would be able to see jita from delve.

This is already in game, they are just going to make it more dynamic so it will be easier to notice the differences as well as the similarities.
Have you looked at the background in EVE now? I mean really looked? All the systems in EVE are surrounded by the same nebulae, it just asumes different colours dependant on the systems you're in, as each star gives off different light! And the little pinpoints of light that you see all around are ACTUALLY the other star systems in EVE.
How do you want to recognize Jita from Delve? From 20 LY away it's just going to be a pin point of light like any other star, right?
Edit: Censorship owns.
However, you might want to consider a few things, first of all; I now have one of those annoying sigs.
second; you should probably move on to some more interesting things than reading this sig.

However nice they make the planets, it's still going to look pretty stupid when I warp straight through them in my rifter.

The odds of that will be much lower if they do it realistically. Planets take up very little space in the real universe and you could warp around your whole life and never hit one.

it will prolly look ghey no matter what. the thing where eve just looses big time compared to other games is the atmosphere in space. maybe they can do some beautifull textures but i doubt beyond that they can do much at all. ccp has been simply complete absent in that department over the last few years.
anyway hey ccp here are some of the points i would love to see you change for us, yourself and your oney bag i guess: sizes *cough* , textures... well ok you changing that, but you are not changing the thing that for example we have the same background in jita and then it is also in many other places over eve. it kills the atmopshere. it is so fail against yourself. it makes everythings repeative and dead. instead give space some feeling to it. look how freelancer did it. now thats pretty old but still tops you in feeling of space. then some other tip is maybe check out x3:tc again. i hope after all this time you can deliver. you can right?

I been waiting for new backrgrounds for ages now.
Do you remember once you were able to see all the stars in the galaxy from each system , what eve happened to that? I hope they bring that back.

I'd be happy if the planets would just stay round when approaching the edge of the screen.
Of course that will happen just about the time curved OLED screens become popular just to keep the status quo and mess with our heads
