Ran off with 2.7bil of mine, said he had computer issues and character would be transferred today.
Then someone caught him in another post about 8 hours later trying to sell his character again, luckily he saw my old post of him.
Anyway, I'm sitting here waiting for petitions to go through, just a giving a heads up because it looks like he might try it again.

What's with all these new character bazaar scammers? I mean it's not Jita in here heh. I've never seen anyone try to scam before on these forums and in the past few days there has been so much scamming going on. Of course these people who scam are just down right stupid because GM will undoubtably figure it out and ban them. I just don't get it.

Yeah, I never expected it at all. He joined NPC corp during conversation, everything seemed legit.
Why would people even attempt this when it specifically says it's prohibited in the rules.
Anyone have experience with this and know how long it takes for the petition / investigation to go through?

I think they must not even be glancing at the rules for the CB. They just see billions flying around in here, and figure they can scam here just like in the rest of the game. And they will SCREAM bloody murder when their account gets banned.

well i was also scammed. made a petition and havent heard anything. that was 3 or 4 days ago.

Yeah I guess its just a matter of time now. It just gets annoying when you sell a character to get a new one, then you lose all the ISK you have and are forced to sit around waiting...
Worst thing is I just saw him log on and off.
I know you're reading this Veil, return the ISK and save yourself the trouble.

This happens more and more cause people are too trusting. Most of the characters on these forums have been bought and sold more times than a car gets oil changes.
My advice is to download a free video capture device to record forum updates and also (and most importantly) in-game convos.
1.When scammers are told that all in-game convos,mails,wallet transactions,upates on forums, Etc are being recorded most just bugger off.
2.When filing a petition you can send video evidence of all things transpired from forums to in-game so they can make a faster and more informed decision.
I know it may seem labor intesive but when you get right down to it a few minutes of recording here and there will save you days or possibly billions of isk.
Edit: Thought i would add that i have done about a dozen trades or more from a few months ago to a few years ago and have never been scammed once using this system.

yeah, I have screenshots of the whole process and the ISK transfer was labeled as "character sale" - so he cant just say it was a donation.
didnt think of bringing it to the next level with a couple minutes of video :-p

All scams involving character transfers are prohibited.
I'm pretty sure thats the rule and it doesnt have to be on the forums.

Yes you're right. It's very important issue for Eve-online's forums. I use sell/bought a characters on character bazaar sometimes, if I need it.
1. Please save all private log files (seller/buyers) for petition. I think it's important.
For example: E:\My Documents\EVE\logs\Chatlogs (for my pc) You can easy find all chat logs under this folder.
2. Please QUATE button when you added reply thread in that time. If you use it, Buyer/Seller can not edit your reply.
For example: The seller edited its all words on its thread.

I only hope the fact scammers are increasing like hell here is not linked to CCP not punishing them....or even worst they get punished/banned after days when they already used all the isk on the market with hundreds of transaction so that its near impossible to track the cash used....like this CCP will refund the scammed characters, but the scammer have found the treasure...

As stated earlier in the thread. He did try and scam me :) But did get away with it.
eve-sheet was down. So I googled the eve-sheet url and it showed eve-online forum post with the name, checked it, and showed the char scamming |

....wondering were CCP mods are....and dont tell me you need time to investigate, it takes 30 seconds to understand this guy is a scammer....bha....sounds like insurance companies, someone stole your car? We have to investigate and after couple of months you can have money back....maybe....

So I'm definitely not getting his character.
He said he already bought another character with the ISK I gave him.
From what I've researched through searching through other issues like this, his character is going to get a big fat negative 2.7bil value in it?
This is just insane. Are there really this many petitions going through their system? or is it just a lack of manpower to deal with the ones they get.
edit: and wth is Veil saying "thx" to?

Allot of bored ppl submit petitions for stupid reasons like they have lag or they got blown up.
There is allot of petition Spam it takes about 5 days and they are very professional.
Im sure you'll get ur isk and that char will be Deleted or account blocked..

I for one am avoiding people who speak cryptic english like the plague.
1. Do all business on the forum...screw the ingame chat deals
2. Have them construct/immediately answer something on the forum that takes more than one sentence. If they can't get nervous.
3. CCP is VERY good about dealing with character forum scammers...they are just buried in petitions because of all those pron freaks who had to click the links on forums.

Yeah I know what you mean. Can only do so much from our standpoint.
And somehow I think he's ****ed, he said a couple things to me in chinese, had them translated by people in game. Basically along the lines of "f**k your mom" "youre thick" etc.
Maybe these posts got to him somehow, here's me hoping he really does get banned at the end of all this.

3 days, no response at all.
this is ridiculous.
this is the most frustrated I've ever been with a game company, even WoW would only take me 1-2hours on the phone to get whatever issue I have resolved. Hell, even SOE was faster response than this.

I know that your isk will be given back to you.. and that all transactions made by that character will be reversed.. all easily done by CCP.. they can even track you if you exchanged items by jet canning!
it only needs some time.. and honestly.. i would open another petition asking about my first with an explanation of the first petition :p

Please do not discuss scamming in the Character Bazaar. If you check the forum rules you will see:
15. All scams involving character transfers are prohibited.
If you believe someone has scammed you in a Character Trade then please submit a petiton under "Billing", "Character Transfers".
