Every single real mmo on the market has problems from time to time, WoW, EQ2, AoC, LOTRO...it happens...

You mean you never played WoW? We had quite frequent crashes, as well as 600-800 people queues from time to time. Was fun coming home, logging in, sitting 30-40 minutes in queue and then be able to play. Good times.

And then you have to factor in eve's exceptional single server. When the server crashes, all of eve notices.

You said you've never played an MMO that has crashed, and yes, I have played eq2 for almost 5 years and there have been countless severe server crashes. Trust me, I used to have to put out the forum fires from people screaming and hollering every time it happened.

From the Apo 1.5.1 Patch notes:
"A server side issue has now been fixed that could cause node deaths if system administrators pressed certain buttons"
Me guess they was wrong :)

You probably did not play a lot of MMO, then.
I am pretty sure all MMO have occasionnal trouble.
I am really sure that for every MMO crash, there is someone on the forums complaining that it never happen in others MMO.
I have survived Everquest Shadow of Luclin launch.
And every major EQ patch as a bard.
I have enjoyed myself in the early days of Anarchy Online.
A little database issue in Eve is nothing.

100% uptime in any system is never achieveable, **** happens, and downtime doesn't count because it's planned. if you've played eve for any long period of time you;ve seen this come and go, and ignore the idiots that are telling you that they have to roll back the database they always say that....

Maybe they fixed the buttons but forgot the menu options.
