Because they're pussies. -10 sec status equates to +10 inches where it matters most.

Edited by: Khemul Zula on 13/09/2009 03:07:12 Because EVE doesn't have proper pirates. Pirates should have a peg-leg, and an eye-patch, and wear brightly colored clothes, and say 'YARRR!!!' alot...okay so maybe they have some parts right. Instead we have Achura's. No way you are getting a proper pirate out of an Achura. It isn't their fault. It's just that a pirate has to look like it wasn't born with a large stick shoved up it's ass. Also, Achura's can't laugh...well maybe they can, but they shouldn't. Just the thought of a laughing Achura is going to give me nightmares for the next few days. But anyways. A proper pirate should also have a parrot, trained to repeat key phrases at just the right time. I see no parrots in EVE. An Achura, with an eye-patch, peg-leg, in something with color (Anything will do that isn't a shade of grey, white, or black. Most likely impossible), laughing, with a parrot. Never going to happen. Shouldn't happen, to be honest. Very scary thought that one is.

When i first started playing I was very confused by the presence of the Achura ... I often wondered if i had decided to play the wrong game by mistake.
Why are there Gnomes in space ?
Eventually I realised they were just ugly and socially inept, and not vertically challenged Elf/Dwarf hybrids.

Why waste your time on ships with no cargo? For the kill? Big frikkin deal...so you killed someone, but got no booty.

Piracy in Eve is interesting.
On the one hand, blowing players up is great fun and ruins your security status.
On the other hand, blowing rats up is sometimes necessary to get some additional income (if that is how you get income) and it raises your security.
I personally think that if your security drops below -5.0, in order to raise your security you need to go to a CONCORD office and pay a token fee, like, 10,000 ISK or something to obtain a "license". This license which lasts for a set period of time would allow you to raise your security to kill rats.
I dunno, think of it like a buff or something. Anyway, that would allow pirates to kill NPCs without raising security.

So, if I understand Ms. o'Ninetails post, everything in Eve Online comes down to how much ISK you have.
Not about the thrill of the chase, the excitement of the kill or the victory rush.
nah, just about how much make pretend money you have.

That is not entirely true. Muggers and pirates have always been the same thing. The only difference was that a pirate did it on the open seas or space in this case. Perhaps it is pure semantics but for me it is more a question of the difference between a ganker and a pirate.
Gankers just kill ships and scavenge for the profits. Pirates hold people for ransom. Not that a pirate wouldn't blow up a ship if the cargo hold held some very fat loot but that is just the point. It is more a case of Ganker wants the kill mail first. Pirate wants the ISK or Loot first.
Right now there are far more gankers out there then true pirates.

Because they wanna go buy something in hi-sec or are bored as anything with skirting round all the hi-sec systems probably.
Also.. pretend money iskies are important for keeping your ego warm at night when it would otherwise freeze to death, the poor thing.

Eve pirates are lame.
How can the pirates tell which ship has cargo? By scanning it? You can only do that by locking and applying the scanner to see what's inside. In which case you might as well apply the blasters to see what comes out.

I was pirated in WH space this weekend, yes it was my fault for not being more careful. I was scanning anomalies from a planet. They popped my Buzzard and ransomed my pod for 50 mil. I paid and they let me go. Nice chaps really.

Why pirate? Because when you make someone's ship unexpectedly implode, there is the slight possibly of tears, hate mail, or in game death threats. And I lol @ those in RL. ------------
