Hi all,
I'm a pretty noob few-month-old EVE player with 4 accounts and I want to train them in a such a way that they will work together efficiently (i.e. miner + trader, scout + pew pew, bubbles + pew pew).
Here's what I have so far:
7m - Hulk (also 3 weeks from a Drake) 5m - Myrmidon 4.5m - Anathema (starting on a Vagabond) 3.5m - Trader (working on a Freighter)
Right now I've got the Hulk + Trader mining and hauling in high-sec and I'm happy keeping them in high-sec for now to keep a steady income. For the Hulk pilot: where does one next? Should I go for an orca/rorq or does that not make any sense (nub here) and should it be reserved for another pilot? Should my Trader go for an orca/rorq to haul for the Hulk? Very confused about this one.
For the Myrmidon - do I go for Domi or Megathron now? I want to pvp.
Anathema - No idea what to do with him. Started on a vagabond a few days ago just because I've heard the name thrown around a lot but I feel lost and would like to know if this makes sense.
---------------------------------------------
So in summary, I guess I'd like to: 1. Be able to run mini-mining ops. 2. Use all 4 chars to PvP simultaneously (I have quad monitors). Maybe scout + bubble guy + bs + frig?
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Dont train them to do the same things . Make them do as many opposite things as possible
Train one to be a cap ship Pilot , and one to stay in battlecruisers or smaller ships I would make the miner and trader similar so they could swap ships sometimes ,but in general i'd train 3 different races at least .Dont waste time by training gun skills on the miner or trader.
Get the learnings all up for the miner or trader and remap him drasticly for science / industry
What you DONT want , is 2 years from now , to have 4 half assed characters. The key will be to focus them and end up with 4 specialized characters . A good miner ; a good manufacturer/trader ; A good cruiser pilot ; A good Battleship pilot .
You could still run a 4 man mining op , with support , but PvP is hard enough for two ships , and besides , You'll want all your killmails on one or two chars anyway
Hope i helped a little . GL

heh i wish i had 4 characters. What the above poster stated is absolutely right. there is no point in having 4 underspecialised characters. you do have a bit of a problem though, you need to know WHY you want 4 characters. if you can figure out what your actual needs are, then to fulfil that demand is rather simple. It does seem slightly that you've got the supply, and are now looking to create the demand for your accounts. But meh, we live and we learn =). This is the best advice you'll get...think of ALL the things you want to do in eve, pick the top 4, and make them the eventual goals of your characters..and if you can't figure out what to do...that's okay too! Learn the Core Competency Elite certificate on any character you dont know what to do with at the moment. Sure it will make you learn some skills you might never need.. at the same time having stuff like max capacitor, max capacitor recharge, max shields, max armor..etc etc... all of these things can only be a useful bonus in whatever you do in the future... good luck o/

for mini-mining ops: 3 hulks and an orca to haul. or 4 hulks with all cargo expanders and cargo optimization rigs to directly mine into your hold and dock (easier to manage than 3 hulks jetcanning and orca to haul).
PVP: scout + bubble guy + bs + frig is too hard to coordinate. maybe just a BS/BC (depending how mobile you want to be) and an inty to tackle for it. or multiple assault frigates to tackle and gank together.
4 characters sounds good for wormholing actually.

Yup, if you're making enough money to support 4 characters or enough ISK to PLEX your way through, you might as well train them up like this.

Okay, I've been doing some research on the forums and this is what I've come up with:
7m - Hulk ---> Drake ---> Raven ---> Scorpion ---> Chimera 5m - Myrmidon ---> Dominix ---> Ishtar ---> Megathron ---> ??? 4.5m - Anathema ---> Stiletto ---> Vagabond ---> Sabre ---> Broadsword ---> ??? 3.5m - Trader ---> Orca ---> Freighter ---> Research and Industry
Please tell me if anything looks even vaguely ******ed or if you have any suggestions.
- I'll be able to mine with the Hulk and Orca characters, sometimes using the other 2 characters to haul. - The Orca character will stay in low-sec and provide a steady stream of income. - The Hulk character is only 30-40 days away from flying a Raven or Scorp, so soon he'll start on a Chimera. I guess I'll probably have him mining most of the time and occasionally use him to help blow stuff up. - Myrm char will blow stuff up with blasters (unlike Hulk char) - Anathema will learn to fly A. fast minmatar ships and B. sabre and broadsword
Sound alright?
What should I do with the Myrm char after the Megathron? What should I do with the Anathema char after the Broadsword?

hmm interesting idea you got there.
I think i would look at it from a different angle though... not on what should i fly per character but what is handy per kind of operation you are undertaking.
1) mining op (hi sec) hulk + hulk + orca + covert ops for annoying little buggers
2) missioning / wh Salvager + mission runner + mission runner + hauler (or 3rd mission runenr for dps)
3) pvp / wh NB: combat skills for mission runners help here aswell so not a big leap.. only on the ship types you choose to work with) Covertops + dps + dps + fleet(squad) commander
going from here you could opt for:
Miner char: hulk + salvager + small dps ships for pvp Trader char: Orca + fleet command (both need leadership skillz) + hauler 3rd char: Covert ops + mission running ship 4th char: mission running ship + heavy dps pvp + 2nd hulk flyer
All this will take quite some time any way you are going with it.
Note: at 7 mil SP top hulk pilot isn't ready yet perfecting their mining attributes.. ------- Always a deeply religious people, religion remains of great importance to every Amarrian, a fervour which at various times has been responsible both for great good and great evil. |

Edited by: Darthewok on 15/09/2009 14:32:31 Nice PVP symbiosis: 1 tackler character, 1 DPS/big ship/Dread character 5m - Myrmidon ---> Dominix ---> Ishtar ---> Megathron --->Moros Dread may come in useful for destroying large enemy structures if you go to 0.0 and join an alliance 4.5m - Anathema ---> Stiletto ---> Vagabond ---> Sabre ---> Broadsword ---> Rapier Rapier is covert tackler
Nice ISK making symbiosis: can mission or mine together 7m - Hulk ---> Drake ---> Raven ---> Chimera (Scorpion not useful if he will be in high-sec) 3.5m - Trader ---> missions salvaging Hurricane/Catalyst ---> Hulk ---> Iteron V ---> Freighter ---> Research and Industry a second Hulk will yield more than an Orca. Iteron V always comes in useful when you need a cheap but high capacity hauler. a salvaging ship is cool to assist your Raven missioner. BTW missions make more than empire mining currently.
my 2 ISK anyway, there's no fixed right path DE

Some good ideas in this thread. However...
It might be too late now, so I guess this goes to those who are considering getting more chars, but first thing you should do before getting a second char, let alone a third or fourth, is have a plan for what you want from that char. Know what you want from an alt, then you can train the alt specifically for that task.

The Chimera is a drone intensive train , but so is the Domi /ishtar guy . I'd make the Myrm pilot evolve into my carrier pilot and have the hulk pilot evolve into Drake>>>>Nighthawk>>>>Fleet Booster with mining and pvp leaderships .

I've got too many characters/accounts and at times it's difficult to decide which direction to send them in.
Miner / Science & Industry char - now going for Electronic Warfare
Miner / Hauler / Rorqual pilot - now heading towards Amarr Dread, he's got maxed navigation skills so was too tempting not to send him down that way, and I liked the sound of the Dual Giga Beam Laser :) plus he's already got the capital skill book, and I'm a tight yorkshireman
Missile lobbing Raven pilot for missioning - he's now starting to cross train to minmatar for projectiles.
Leadership / Bonus giver / Orca pilot / Science & Industry char - now on the long path towards various command ships.
A Char that a friend gave me, came with Caldari battleship 5 and a moderate supply of gunnery skills so he's aiming for Rokh
And finally I'm working up an amarr PvP char but he's a long way from finished.
If I'd have thought about it in the first place I'd have done things different, my bonus giver would have flown the rorqual for example.
I only started my 2nd account as I wanted to send my first char down the industry route instead of missions, and now I've got 6 accounts. I could give it up, but I just don't want to... Eve really screws you up

EveMon can get to a Hulk hull in a couple of months. Anything specific people recommend for that 7 million SP? Or just the usual suspects of Eng, Nav, Drones, etc?
