For the purpose of this topic I'll confine my remarks to the roleplaying "Amarr-Minmatar war" community as we are about the only Eve community truly "living" the RP life 100% of the time. While other corps and alliances may RP news releases, events, whatever (good for them too) I live in Empire space, RP a character in a RP war that was setup by CCP and really only care about that.
The A-M war community roleplayers do alot for themselves. I've seen numerous events come up and mass participation. I see events at this time (Tetrimon) and planned (my Jovian event hopefully will be approved). As someone who is confined in his playing style by RP I've decided to make alot of my own personal "content" in Eve.
I'd like to share an example with you of what happens when "roleplay Amarr" players and these "roleplay pirates" (one of the communities Shar is talking about) get together.
ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE
As you can see two distinct playing styles......
Anyway I don't view asking CCP for something as "whining" and "begging" nor do I recall seeing Shar in the Shiva thread complaining about people being "whiners" because they didn't like something. Thus I fail to see the reason for his presence here.
Anyway I think the RP community does a good job and there are alot of opportunities. I would like an OOC forum to post RP comments in and swap ideas much as the alliances have an IC and OOC forum. Otherwise I see no major problems. Let's make our own future and CCP can come along for the ride.

One big problem with "all inclusive" RP events for the Eve population is LAG (with a captial "L"). Last month we held an event (the Slaver Conference) which was planned in advance. Both CVA and Terrorist corporations knew the plan and what was to happen. In fact when one key player was late logging on that day the terrorists even held in a system to wait.
The event went off like a lag-fest. Also the rules weren't real clear and some people had spare ships. Still it was a good experience as far as working together goes. But with over 100 ships in this one area (around a station) it was lag-city.
About a month later the highly publicized capture of Hakera (and his rescue) was played out. This time we held it to smaller numbers (10 each side) and the Lag wasn't nearly as bad.
Nothing is more frustrating to plan a grand event then have it ruined by LAG!!!!!!!
I know myself in planning an event involving the Jovians (or someone else if ISD can't help) I'm forced to limit it to 10 people per side. I'm actually handpicking most of them from the Summit (Amarr and Minmatar) strictly because of their roleplay ability. Khaldorn, Ph0enix, Glossu Rabban have all agreed to participate from the 'terrorist camp'. I'd love to have all of Eve participate if ISD says yes but its just not possible. Instead due to the problems with Lag and gameplay we're forced to limit it to frigates or cruisers with no drones and 20 players total.
As for smaller corporations missing out I agree there really is nothing in it for them from the traditional RP sense. The Amarr-Minmatar war participants are RP'ing around events in Eve history. Even so events from CCP are far and few. This isn't so bad though as it gives us a chance to be creative.
I'd like to see an OOC RP forum added to the RP IC one so we can plan possible events for the RP community.
