I, personally, have one character and only one. I have messed up my skills to hell, having 5mil skill points and still not having battleshipworthy skills. I will continue to stay with my one character because at some point in the game, every skill will be useful. I take refining and production efficiency for granted because I trained those to 4 and 5 respectively, but they're useful sometimes. I'm currently finding a multitude of things to train and wanting them all done ASAP, but I don't think I would ever start a new character unless I got a second account, which is unlikely to occur.
I don't care if I don't like the skills i have because at some point, they'll all come in handy if I try everything out. Heck, I can fly a scorpion and I sit here flying nothing but Thoraxes. Recently, I had to fly a Moa to a friend somewhere and I could pilot it and deliver it immediately, which was handy. It's those little things that rock about having redundant skills. As long as you're not going to get yourself killed all the time, there's no problem with having a lot of skills until you come out of clone coverage, though better clones are promised in the future so I don't think I will ever come out of coverage.

I know opinions are worth very little these days, but one question comes to mind: "What were you thinking?"
I understand wanting to start afresh. This is my second character, (although I deleted my first only almost 2 months into the game) so I know how easy it can be. But you worked a long time on that one. You could have sold it, gave it to someone else, or kept it on the back burner...just in case. Just up and deleting it after all this tme does seem to be wasteful.
Hindsight is 20/20, foresight is blind.

Edited by: darth solo on 22/10/2004 11:32:42 well, iv got a 11mill skill point NPCer char... hes a jack of all trades though... i trained him up to lvl 4 in gunnery skills.. when he got to be decent in a apoc, i stopped training him..
i then made a new char that specialises in only gang skills.
what im trying to say is more that u were prob btr keeping him, he could always have been used for scouting, or picking crap up on AP.. why didnt u just scrap an alt on the same account?.

Ho Ho Ho.
You are silly.
I've got 3 accounts, and the second account has 2 usable chars, one with 9m and one with 2.5m, didn't see the reason I should have deleted the 9m one to make the 2.5m... ----- [22:02] <Kurenin> anyhow, on a more serious note, what did you think of those ideas? [22:02] <Hammerhead> we can't do anything that requires programming

Why delete the character? I mean, you can just stop training that character and start a fresh one. That way you have an alt to use in other places to save time. Maybe making more isk in the process or maybe killing someone for the heck of it.(griefin' is funny) Shamrock

You go girl! It's just a bunch of zeroes and ones entangled in a big mess. Who cares about a character.
If you weren't happy with it, just ditch it.

wow... yall are nuts. 10M SP, and 65 skills, IS specialized...
I can't imagine doing that. but hey, as long as your having fun, and I'm sure you transferred the char's assets to the new one before killing it. having know how and financing could make starting over ALOT easier.... but especially considering how insanely anal so many people are about skill time and all... its boggling to me to lose that many SP.

Here's how I look at it from someone that has started over. Starting over is easier with a few mill behind you for sure, but SPs just allow you to use stuff, they dont make you a better Eve player. Experience does, and I have bucketloads of that. So, I have 300k skillpoints, but an assload of XP, which is better than 300k skillpoints and no XP The only downside is waiting to skill up again so that you can use stuff. Apart from that, its fine. Its not as much of a problem as people think.

Yes , I think you are silly
So HMV consider Andy Williams and Dean Martin to be "easy listening" do they? Tell that to my mate Dave, he's been deaf for 20 years.

I wouldn't have deleted it, but I think I know how you feel. I'm gettin insanely bored with this character, you oldies remember what it was like when you first started? I remember saving up to get my first Tristan, those were the days
What's the point in playing with a 10.5mil SP character just because your ANAL about losing skill training. This game is more about having fun for me, and at the moment i'm not. Again, though, I wouldnt delete this character, just start a new one and not bother with all those bloody science skills
