Edited by: Jake McCord on 17/09/2009 09:01:42 Yes, I fell for it. I should know better. But as a warning to everyone else, watch out for Absolute Clarity and penifSMASH. Scammers and liars that they are.
Quote: Jake McCord > And what if I don't join, what happens to the stuff that's already been contracted? Absolute Clarity > loan refunded, items contracted back to ya Absolute Clarity > (minus the contract brokers fee, if applicable) (a little later in the convo, after I decide against paying a "restitution" for something that I had no part of) penifSMASH > Well sorry then. Your collateral is forfeit, it being collateral and all.
(collateral is the code word for the loan I made)
I also figure I'm not going to see 4 ships that were contracted to be moved, either.
But I figured, seeing as how the last warning on Goonfleet scams is a little dated, I should post this warning, in case anyone else forgets.

An additional bit of info, if any of you EVER think of joining GoonFleet, be sure to check out the following page: http://wiki.goonfleet.com/index.php?title=Joining_Goonfleet
It will probably save you a lot of time, grief and isk.

It does, doesn't it. I may flip ore cans from time to time for a little excitement, but if I want to make isk, I'll run missions, go ratting, or mine (if I'm really desperate).

I don't understand that even after the million and 1 posts saying about Goon scamming, why people still fall for these scams. READ THE FORUMS instead of crying when you fall for a scam they have been doing for years!!!

Goon seems to making alot of enemies, instead of griefing/killing each other, why not band together and burn em out of eve? then fight over what is left.

Probably more anti-penifSMASH than anti-Goon. Still, GoonFleet tolerates his actions, so that would make them accomplices. And in typical scammer fashion, they tried to turn it around on me. "ooh, he's a spy, trying to sneak into GF to spy on us." Maybe if they'd stuck to their word and given my money and other stuff back, it would have gone a long way to prove they're not scamming people. As it is, if they have so much isk, like I was told, why do they need my stuff? Guess maybe GF is a poor fleet that can only make their isk by scamming people, eh?

I think youre missing the point of roleplaying. Goons roleplay bad guys. If we didnt mind their scamming, then we wouldnt call it scamming. So for there to be any point to scamming, someone has to object to it. Bad guys rely on good guys to show contrast.

Yeah, if only scammers were more honest, right. Here's a strange thought; deceptions are their missiles. Scamming is a form of PvP. You just lost four ships.

You know, I was just looking for a corp, someone referred me to penifSMASH, and I paid the price. Not having met any of them in person, I can not attest to how much they weigh. But I'd say, based on their actions, 350 pounds is kind of light.

A sad lesson for them then, when they discover that are are the exact people the the goonies prey upon.

Ok, so how about if I say that GoonFleet (or at least the 3 of them that ripped me off) are the lowest of the low, the foulest of the foul, and the most cowardly of the cowards in EVE, anyone who can ONLY make isk by scamming other people are not worthy to be dog dirt.

To be honest, I never gave it a thought before, partly because of their reputation, and partly because I heard you had to know someone to get in. When I was sent a referral, I thought, "Hey, a foot in the door." After all, GF is part of GS, and it's a HUGE alliance, so I figured it might be a good learning opportunity. Well, it was a learning opportunity, just not a good one.
An expensive one to be sure. One that a few months ago, might have caused me to just give up on the game. But this time around, not so much.

In the end, it's just a game, at least I keep telling myself that. And I really have more serious, RL issues to worry about than a bunch of dweebs that go around scamming everyone for fun.
But thank you. I do try to be a good sport, as much as I can. I just figured maybe my little fiasco, if I told about it, might save someone else some grief.

This must have been an exaggeration or a clerical error. penifSMASH is an upstanding senior Goonfleet officer. Goonfleet does not scam or tolerate those who do, because it would be counterproductive to growing our membership and maintaining our status as the largest corp/alliance in eve. We have a very specific security entry process to make certain that we are not infiltrated by hostile agents.
If you wish to file a formal grievance please evemail me for details.

Not an exggeration. He is a scammer of the lowest sort. And Absolute Clarity has no honor. But, based on what I've been told about GoonFleet, I guess I really should not be surprised.
I have chalked this up to one slightly expensive lesson learned. Thanks to penifSMASH and his cohorts, I'll not likely ever trust anyone in EVE again, that I don't already know.

Yeah, I didn't know that. But they didn't get any real money. All they really did was fix it so I'm not likely to trust anyone else in this game that I don't know personally. Really, it's a shame that some people can't make money in the game except by scamming other people. I don't mind PvP combat. That's expected. But this sort of scam should be some sort of TOS violation or something.
Since GF is such a large corp in an even larger alliance, it's not likely I'll ever get a chance at justice/revenge. All I can do is forum troll and whine.

Let me share my experience with the goon boys. I was looking for an alliance that would give me space and protection for my pos. I was contacted by Goon recruiting officer, that offered me 100m deal and pos refueling.
I got excited and was about to fall for it, untill she said i should go to low sec system and their jump freighter would move all my stuff to their space. This made me enough suspicious not to join them. Why would i not haul my own stuff there??? I told her i only have 2 BS nothing else with me and still she insisted to haul them...
Did not join them, and i heard after it was most likely a scam. I'm not accuseing Goons about this cause i cannot know 100% it was a scam, just my experience.
Respectfully,

I once asked my CEO how come he doesnt want to join a big alliance like goons,NC etc..
He told me to STFU and PVP. Corp's effieciency 92%+ atm without NAPing(kissing ass) of anyone.
Op you got what you deserved. You dont join alliances...you join corps in this game i think where a CEO is supposed to know better than a newb.

FYI, GoonFleet IS a corp. THAT is who I thought I was going to join. NOT GoonSwarm. Read the post! DOH.
Hell, for that matter, READ the title of the thread. It does say "GoonFleet scammers..."

Sounds pretty much like the same thing that happened to me. Problem was, while I thought that MAYBE there was a problem, I wasn't totally convinced. That's when I decided I'd let them move 4 ships. And that's when they turned the screws to try to "convince me" that this "trust thing" was a two way street.
They wanted me to let them move all the rest of my stuff, including a Machariel and a Tempest Fleet Issue to Delve region. I decided to cut my losses and told them no. They of course tried to turn the tables on me, saying I was a wanna be spy and all that other garbage. But the truth is, they wanted me to show my trust for them, while they did NOTHING to return the favor.
As far as GoonFleet goes, I blame them for encouraging their members to scam outsiders at will. They don't want any real good will. If they did, they'd return my money and my ships. But they won't. As far as GoonSwarm (the alliance) goes, I can't say. But if the alliance was started by GoonFleet, then my guess is the alliance is no better than the corp.

You thought there might be something wrong, So you did the only logical thing and blindly handed them four of your ships instead of spending about 30 seconds researching them which would have revealed that they do this sort of thing all the time?
Give me 200 mill and i'll scam them out of the ships you gave them and give them back to you. ------------------------- I'm not shirtless damnit! |

I had some doubts, but I thought maybe I was unduly paranoid.
And to quote someone far more intelligent than myself, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.
In other words, NOT going to happen ever again. But, nice try. :)

Well, DOH, they were rewarded, with my ships. I don't think they deserve anymore reward than they manage to scam. And even that is more than they deserve.
