Here is my petition to CCP,I hope to inform you all of what has happened to me so it can be learned from. Hello, I am a desperate player at this point.I have lost everything I strived for in EVE Online. My pride is broken and I am about to quit playing the game I love so much.I am writing in hope that the generous people at the CCP can fix this problem that has unfortunatly occured to me.So heres the story.I had just purchased my favorite ship in the entire game, the Raven and was being carful on how I use it.I went out earlier today and bought some expensive rigs to put on it and then docked it for the day.Later on this evening, when I finished getting my capacitor stable, I prepared the 5a Prototype Shield Support I I was planning to use to repair my friends. So needless to say I wanted to test it out.I undocked outside the Kisogo State of War Academy to try it.I targeted a random player to see how my capacitor faired while using the Sheild Support System ONLY.I cant fire the Missile Launchers I had fit and i never got the question of if I was to agress Concord would attack so I targeted the player and was shield repairing him for about 2 minutes with no problems. Then it said I had engaged in criminal activity and I was immediatly being swarmed by Caldari customs police and sentry guns.I tried to run,I tried to dock but i was killed too quick to even realize what was happening. The combat log is as states: 2009.09.18 02:45:00
Victim: xhaloboyx Corp: Domination Incorporated. Alliance: Damnation. Faction: NONE Destroyed: Raven System: Kisogo Security: 1.0 Damage Taken: 26467
Involved parties:
Name: Caldari Sentry Gun II / State War Academy Damage Done: 13663
Name: CONCORD Police Commander / CONCORD (laid the final blow) Damage Done: 12804
Destroyed items:
Paradise Cruise Missile, Qty: 1000 (Cargo) Mark I Generator Refitting: Capacitor Power Relay, Qty: 3 Cruise Missile Launcher I, Qty: 5 'Pandemonium' I Ballistic Enhancement Shield Boost Amplifier I Cap Recharger II Large Capacitor Control Circuit I, Qty: 3 5a Prototype Shield Support I X-Large Shield Booster I
Dropped items:
Large Azeotropic Ward Salubrity I Mark I Generator Refitting: Capacitor Power Relay Cruise Missile Launcher I Cap Recharger II Large S95a Partial Shield Transporter
I dont know what to do.Normally if it were my fault and I attacked a player I would agree with what happened but I never aggressed at all, if anything I was helping the guy I targeted.I am writing this petition to see what can be done to help or reimburse my account.I am a respectful person and have always followed CCP rules. What has happened to me has been a horrifying experience.I went from having my favorite ship to loosing it in seconds.I may not know everything about this game, hell I know I barely cracked the surface but I knew that if concord doesnt state that I was going to be attacked then I was safe to at least target a player and give them armor.I know that the AI for the police can be scetchy some times and maybe they werent even supposed to attack but I am begging you to help me I have no where to turn.I am sick of asking for help in this game and if I cant be saved from this experience I cant stand to play anymore,I worked too hard for this to happen to me and I feel humiliated, disgusted and extremely saddened that such a thing could happen by the AI I trust.I already feel anger towards myself for taking that chance and maybe I am wrong in all this. All I know is to be killed in such a fasion so quick and unforseeable,I cant help but to feel cheated and unfairly treated. I have nothing else to say, I am left speechless as to what to do.So please CCP, you really are my only hope in solving this problem. xHaloboyx I am completely lost now and absolutely humiliated.I really hope CCP pulls through to me because as i stated I have no will to continue.I am not expecting this to go the way i want it to but I will update you all as I get answers as to why and how.All I can do is hope

It always hurts to lose your first expensive ship, but it gets easier as time goes on. Just be glad you didn't also lose a head full of expensive implants too.
Even though you didn't get the warning, you probably won't get a 'reimbursement'. Just work on having better income methods so things like this don't set you back so much, and take it as a lesson.

You say you have friends, wouldn't it have been a better option to fleet up with one of them and test your ship that way instead of randomly targetting someone outside a station, who may well have been seen as a criminal which is why you got popped?
Darwinism at work I say

Its funny how people tend to show absolute disregard for what they say to others and that matters later on in life as you'll find out.I was 100% innocent I meant nothing but to repair what I could at the time.I am sure I am not the first to make this mistake so there is no point in wasting your time here if you have nothing productive to say.I only feel it is right that CCP help in whatever way possible because of the fact i was never warned therefore I was never informed of the danger or actually engagement.

The point I'm trying to make is that in EVE your actions have consequences, and the pilot you targetted, even for the so called innocent act of shield repping him, may have been classed as a criminal. Did you consider that you had abetted someone classed as a criminal? I know you didn't get a warning but those can be turned off or you may have a legitimate right to petition if it didn't work.
But just randomly selecting someone to test modules on isn't advised, some lessons are harsher than others to learn. It may be worth getting one of your friends to help out next time instead of risking so much cash 'cos you're so eager to test your fittings.

CPRs on a shield boosting Raven? Please read the item descriptions.
But aside from the frightful fitting, the CRII and rigs, had you insured it you would have recovered almost all of the cost.
Also, don't sell PLEX unless you know what to do with the ISK.

Edited by: Mark Interiis on 18/09/2009 05:15:42 While you were running support modules on him he most likely engaged the station to contract criminal flagging, immediately concording the two of you. This is why you never see logistics pilots messing around with frigates duels, only more expensive vessels so the owner is less inclined to suicide in revenge.

Its apparent that no one agrees that I shouldn't have been killed, when people can only talk about my fitting and ISK.Let me state why I think this is immoral. 1.I had no aggression. 2.I was not warned of the target. 3.I was not warned of Concord's possible actions.(I know not to mess with that beast) 4.I have no affiliation with that person.(no fleet, corp, alliance etc...) Its ashame because up till now i had believed there would be a little bit more sympathy from such a great community. But I cant help but wonder why this is viewed as my fault, when I had nothing to do with that guy.Concord could have easily killed just him and then if I fired, me too but I couldn't even fire at that point which makes it even more unbearable.

It was your fault. And you did have something to do with that guy, since you were helping him.
Think of it this way. Guy comes running out of a bank with bags full of money, asks you to drive him down the street and you tell him to hop in. The police are not going to be very nice to you, even if you had no idea what was going on.

Edited by: Serge Bastana on 18/09/2009 05:30:41 Your really not reading anything we've said at all, is it the tears blurring your vision. You targeted the ship you wanted to test your repper on and by the sounds of it he targeted the station out of spite and took the pair of you down as he wanted to watch your ship go boom.
This explains why you received no warning of a criminal action when you targetted him and started repping, he may well have performed the criminal action after you set off your repper, then decided it would be fun to watch you lose an expensive ship while he lost very little.
Does that make any sense to you? Yes, no?

Edited by: Professor Tarantula on 18/09/2009 05:30:45 You're talking to people who've lost much more over much sillier things.
I lost a sweet ship that was only about 2 days old, which was easily worth over 200 mil, modules included, from wandering into space controlled by a faction that didn't like me when i was doing an epic arc. I got no warning that entering that space would result in me being open to attack, like when you enter lowsec, and the most amazing thing is, i didn't even file a petition about it.
**it happens, and those kind of consequences are what make this game better than others. If we all just got our ships back when we thought something wasn't fair it would ruin the game fast. Just have to learn from your mistakes.

I knew someone would post a scenario like this and I can rebuttal with the way it really happens-Im walking down the street and I see some poor guy sitting there,so i give him a bag of candy to brighten his day.He goes over to the bank and steals the money, as he is still eating the candy, so the police storm in and kill us both.He was NOT a criminal when I repped him.therefore anything that happened after i started should be void.

Your example is terrible and has nothing to do with the situation.
Try this on for size:
You're driving down the road and someone flags you down for a ride because his car broke down. You give him a ride somewhere to be helpful and he says, "I'll be right back. Don't go anywhere." Then he runs into a build and shoots the person he was driving towards to kill, or even robs a bank/the autoshop with the parts he needed. Then he gets back in and tells you to drive.
You've unwittingly aided and abetted a criminal. It may not have been your intent, but you still did it. In the real world you'd be punished, just as you were in Eve.
But my original point still stands: had you insured that Raven you have had enough ISK from the payout to cover everything but the CRII and rigs, and depending on what you originally paid for the Raven, maybe not even the CRII.

Almost reminds me of the time I was solo camping a dead end systems gate, waiting for a wartarget in a scorpion to come out. I had thought myself very clever at the time, I knew what he was flying, had a location agent track his progress, and fitted out a scorpion myself to exacting specifications designed to ensure my victory.
I was there 30m or so, modules were running hot, and I was getting bored. I clicked on the gate without thinking, and suddenly the gate was double webbed, jammed, target painted, and had ordinance inbound.
Then the gate guns blew me to hell.
Man that was embarassing.
It's just a set back, the more you progress in this game, the easier it is to make money. Almost everyone has made dumb mistakes that cost them isk. The trick is to take that lesson with you as you progress.
Eve is designed to be cold, harsh, and unforgiving. Embrace it.

Not sure why you think it's a troll. He's not getting any emotional reactions from anyone, so it's a failure even if it is.
In my day, i could have trolled you into hysterical babblings. This is nothing.
