To me it seems freakishly weird for a male to run around in a virtual universe with the identity of a strong looking man...
Maybe it's just my upbringing in a newer and up-to-date world but it just seems to me like playing dress up on a Saturday night and trolling the seamier parts of town.

I have the ability to fap with both hands on the keyboard. You know what an answer is? It's a terminus -- an end. Answers are fine, but questions are where it's at. But the fact of the matter is, you're failing to see it from the other side of the spectrum. I guess that's a problem for a lot of people though. If the world could see everything, from all angles, I don't think the U.S.A. would be fighting an 11 year war anymore.
I'm also pretty sure that would be some kind of dimension that'd blow your brain to pieces and require faster-than-light speeds.

I have no need or care to see the other side. 11 year war that has kept the world reasonably safe. At least the USA. That was the point of it to start with. No there is no dimension in sex beyond a woman that would "Blow my brain". You are so scared I understand that gays were beat down no reason to be scared anymore. Just be your self and stop trying to understand or judge me.
Not to mention the Arab Spring which was a USA lead and supported event. Without the 11 years of war there would be no revolution in the Middle East. |

Hey, hey, hey, let's not get nasty about this. Obviously everyone has different views on the subject, which is natural and cool and interesting, because we're all human beings. I'd be worried if we were all the same. I didn't see anyone bashing anyone for anything to begin with, so there's no reason to continue being pissy about the way some people approach it.
The straight guy says he feels that gay people are missing out because girls are awesome. Anything wrong with that? Of course he'd feel that way.
A gay person might feel the exact opposite way about the same straight guy, but since he's gay, it's natural he'd feel that way.
Each person is bound to have a different viewpoint, and each one isn't inherently right. Some things might work for some people and others for others, since we all think and relate to things entirely differently. I hope this isn't big news.
And people all have their reasons for picking avatars. Some peoples' avatars are simply discrete characters - so gender doesn't matter so much to them, because the avatar isn't a representation of the person at the keyboard, it's a digital fictional character who is an egger. And that's cool. And for some, it's a digital representation, so they make the avatar look like themselves, or how they'd like to look, and act like they would in real life. That's also cool.
Me personally, I have a male as a main and then a secondary female pirate. She's a distinct character from me and myself, but my main is my "space persona," you might say. (Something like Tricia McMillan becoming Trillian.) And hey, if your space persona or character or whatever ends up being female, that's awesome, as long as you're okay with it and it works for you. That doesn't mean much of anything about your gender or sexuality or what-the-hell-ever, as there's infinite different ways humans relate to these kinds of things. If you have experience in theatre, you probably know a bit of what I'm talking about.
Mine just happens to be male because I'm a guy and I think it's cool to be a guy (though I think girls are cool too), and I can most easily relate to flying around in a spaceship with my center of bodily mass lower than a female's. And yet I have a distinct female character who also flies around, she just shoots a lot more. Grandpa Bill: "I remember my uncle Joe who used to go mining, back then it was easy to get black lung, but we called it coughing lung because we really didnt care what color it was, the coughing seemed like it should be in the title since he did so much of it." |

On avatars, of which I have 12 now, I just hit the random button until something that doesn't annoy me too much comes up. Yeah, my whole post was kind of about how people see things in different ways.
People do see things differently, all the time, every day. But wouldn't it be most beneficial to the community, society and/or the world, if we could all just move past this fear a lot of others seem to show? If people could stop worrying about what another person's sexuality is or isn't, because in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't even flippin' matter. Neither does the fact that I play a female avatar, being a guy in real life, and Joe Schmoe over there plays a guy, because he is a guy and is proud of it.
It just doesn't matter.

I think I called it pretty good in the other thread. The way he is shouting out his masculinity its obvious that he is trying to reassure himself more than us but the truth of the matter is that he is actually unsure of what he believes he enjoys, but he doesn't want to drop the man's man iron curtain so he keeps repressing those feelings while playing the great act. Sadly he will go through life more lost than the guys who enjoy cute pixelated rear ends while they play in a fantasy world. |

Yeah, that would be nice. We're kind of here for a game, which should kind of be detached from real life.
I've said about all I have to say, I guess.

Grandpa Bill: "I remember my uncle Joe who used to go mining, back then it was easy to get black lung, but we called it coughing lung because we really didnt care what color it was, the coughing seemed like it should be in the title since he did so much of it." |

Why do you assume you know so much about someone in Internet Spaceships Online? I could assume the same thing about you, but i dont, because i have no way of knowing your sexuality and your views of it.
Also, not sure why people are getting so offended at him saying that gay people miss out on the best things in life... Its his opinion, he is welcome to it; I happen to agree with him. |

Possibly so but remember that exploration is an acceptable activity in eve and one i'm sure Spineker enjoys. |

Just under 6% of players are female.
Cannot remember where I saw this though, so I may be wrong. You want fries with that? |

6%? that's shockingly bad, The Entertainment Software Association reckons that 47% of gamers are female.
Although I'm surprised the ESA figure is that high if some of the horror stories I've been told by female gamers are true, they get a lot of abuse. War hasn't been fought this badly since Olaf the Hairy, High Chief of all the Vikings, accidentally ordered 80,000 battle helmets with the horns on the inside. |

Honest answer? I think I chose female because I wanted to create a character or an alter ego way different from RL, and changing gender highlights this.
I use EVE to relax, to get work out of my head and this would not work if my character would resemble my RL persona. I can only speak for myself but I find it plausible that a lot of people (for whatever reason) want there alter EGO in EVE being different from Rl and changing gender is part of that. Seriously, don't take me serious, I MEAN IT...seriously |
