Good evening ;)
I was wondering if there was any info about the current hardware behind the TQ cluster ? I remember having read about its specs, but it was a long time ago...
It's just curiosity, I'd understand if CCP wants to keep it secret because of some strategic decision ;)
Thanks [center] ___________________

One of the external floppies we had on our Amiga went kaput and always created a read/write error on the disks put it. Maybe that's what's wrong with the API? -------- Ideas for: Mining

That was a God among Floppies then. Should have put it up for recommendation as being rebuilt into a CD Drive. _____________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

Welp the nostalgia!
Tear drops in meh beer....
Anyways, there was a devblog about it not so long ago. I don't see it having morphed that much since then but server level (blades???)systems are nit the sorta gear the average spotty computer nerd has sitting in their basement.
Can only imagine a computer student really being interested!

I once seduced CCP Explorer... and while he was having a cigarette I covertly sneaked my way into the CCP server farm via a laser guarded seventh floor window using only half a curly wurly to force the lock, and a complex system of ropes and pulleys to gain entrance.
I am in possession of the only known photograph of the Tranquility cluster in existence.

Edited by: StealthNet on 23/09/2009 21:24:50 It is really nice to see that the game I love is based on solutions I design and sell every day
Last week weŠve sold a project with more IBM BladeCenter Hs, full of HS22 based on Nehalems, all of them with 32 GB RAM, connected to an undisclosed storage solution. We are currently waiting the arrival, but all this hardware will extend a previous VMware Infrastructure Cluster based on BladeCenter H chassis. TBH, 1 of the chassis is dedicated to a proprietary HPC cluster. CanŠt say the real numbers, but weŠve managed to get an IBM Beacon Awards as the best System X and BC solution for that.
Since IŠm really curious as well... have you guys (from CCP) deployed the solution or did you have any help from IBM or an integrator ?

Quote: Behind the proxy servers is the application layer, which runs processing and simulations. This layer currently runs on 100 two-processor computers, or nodes, for a total of 200 processing cores. These nodes connect to what Wyld calls “the heart and soul” of EVE, the 1.5 terabyte Microsoft« SQL Server« 2005 database, with 40,000 input/output operations per second.

Bit old article. Saw it on the last fanfest. I have looked through the various DevBlogs, and comments on the forum, and I have edited the wiki, I hope it's more accurate now. (the article still needs an approval, so stay tuned)
