Originally by: Kalia Masaer The current changes are now on Sisi, looks like large arty are getting 5-5.8% increase in DPS, only Carbonized lead and Nuclear take a damage hit. The tracking bonus scales from 1.0 on on EMP by 0.05 increments up to 1.2 for DU and then back down in 0.05 increments until carbanized lead with a bonus of 1.05. So it will be the medium range ammo that most recieve a benefit to tracking.
The tracking increase in DU is practically useless considering the damage reduction, the two events practically net one another off. This results in the window of tracking benefit being so small compared to the window of benefit from using higher damage ammo. Since tracking is a variable through flight, even achieving the benefits is unlikely however the reduced damaged is an absolute.
I compared a few numbers of D180's against an orbiting AF (as well as a arti-cane firing upon a cruiser), and there was such minimal net benefit that I would never use the ammo for tracking reasons alone.
In the end this projectile 'boost' has resulted in:
- Higher damage, close range ammo, being balanced to MF and AM. This is boost to close-range Minnie ships, but doesn't nothing for Barrage orientated set-ups
- Long-range artillery damage nerf (using T1 ammo) with damage reduction to long range T1 ammo making the decision between faction long range T1 ammo and tremor almost worthless
- Tracking boosts to middle-of-the-road ammo that doesn't provide sufficient tracking or range to warrant not using EMP or T2 ammo for sniping
- TC's and TE's providing insufficient falloff to warrant sacrificing a mid-slot or low-slot. A 3rd gyro will consistently be better, leaving TE's only applicable for full snipe setups that use TE's anyway to scrap the last inches to still fail.
As a result, the only real impact that will have to me is providing some benefit to loading EMP / PP, using more Tremor, having a mild DPS increase due to increased artillery clip size, and having a little extra falloff on snipe setups for a TC / TE I fit anyway.
