Projectile falloff changes seemed to look great on paper only. Yesterday I logged into Dominion and my Stabber Fleet Issue (180mm dual AC + 3 x ambits + barrage)has now falloff 21 km from 24 before Dominion. Needless to say that ship which was builded with dedication to rely on range and which I liked very much is now much worser than it was before. Getting bit more damage on t1 ammo means nothing to minmatar which greatly rely on falloff. By nerfig ambit rigs You just made many falloff dedicataed setups crap. Falloff bonuses on bigger guns (425mm) doesn't mean much since they can be fitted mostly to 2 ships (hurricane, sleipnir).

Ye if they introduced stacking to ambit rigs why not introduce it to trimarks heh? I guess it will be too much crying then.

You must now adapt. You can increase your falloff and leave all other stats the same if you use some logic. It happens a lot after a patch that your favorite fit is no longer the most optimal one.
Don't cry, think.
I think this is bull**** since it was supposed to be "boost" to projectiles. FYI I can't have all the other stats the same because I have to sacrifice slots for modules which should be occupied by something much more useful.

Tell you what. Post your Stabber Fleet Issue fit in Ships and Modules and we'll help you figure out a way to make it better than it was before.
You won't even have to do any of the mental heavy lifting.
Here you go. please give me fit with same dps / tank and I will be happy :) Falloff on this with my skills was 24 before dominion - now its 21

Oooh interesting. And harder than I thought.
I'm calculating your initial EHP as 31,427 pre-Dominion and your DPS as 285 without drones, 2.4KM Optimal + 24KM Falloff.
Unfortunately, I can't increase your falloff. But I can increase your DPS for a loss of 1KM Falloff. Your new gun stats are 303 DPS (+6%) without drones and 2.7KM Optimal + 23KM Falloff (-4%).
Using anything but Barrage, your DPS went from 328 pre-Dominion to 380 DPS now (+13.7%). (Calculated RF EMP to RF EMP, though you can use RF Phased Plasma and RF Fusion now with 1.4KM + 15KM range.) Exact same tank as before.
Well I guess you are using EFT which does not take into account stacking penalties for ambit rigs.
I also very rarely use "anything but barrage" :) So that doesnt help much. In addition 220 tracking is of course not the same as 180 tracking and that's kinda important on ship which does not have slot for neut.

I do my math by hand. EFT is a crutch, and the Falloff is accurate.
If you don't like it, I can't help that much. But I can model the difference in DPS against a moving Inty if you'd like, comparing pre-Dominion d180s to post-Dominion 220s (which got a tracking boost).
Well i just fitted ship and it aint. I know how it is with hitting inties / firgs from practice :) so i don't need math for that. It was hard with 180's and it will be ofc worser with 220's.
So as You can see its not possible to fit with same stats.
I dont want to brag here more.
Simple thing is that CCP stated that they "boosted" projectiles but in the same time they nerfed rigs which are essential for minmatar making it actually worser then before Dominion when it comes to long range.

Yea, Ambits should be doubled, keep the stacking penalty. With the buff to TE/TC's, CCP has basically admitted that the ratio for Falloff to equal Optimal modifiers is 2:1. They should fallow this through to Ambits as well. As well as where the stacking penalty really digs in. It should be at 2:1 compared to the effective optimal cap.
Yes if the ambits bonus would be doubled I will have no problem with stacking penalties. It's not like I need fit all rigs slots with them :) That would be even better cause it will leave some options for other rig slots.
