Hello everyone! I've recently gotten back onto eve and I've settled into flying frigates solo. Being in love with Rockets and shields I've decided on Caldari. I know that typicly Assault Frigs will have a heavier tank and are meant for brawlfests, while the interceptors typicly speed tank and are meant for kiting. However what I don't know is if either of these ships play their roles well. If I remember correctly the Crow used to be (or still is) the fastest ship in the game and was a great interceptor. Are there any frig pilots that are more acquainted with these ships who can give me some advice? Thanks! |

The Harpy is the hybrid Assault Ship. The missile one is the Hawk. I haven't had much experience with the Crow, but I can say that both of the Caldari assault frigs are nice.
Harpy: Fit a buffer tank, and either rails or blasters (I prefer blasters).
Hawk: Active tank is a beast, buffer tank is acceptable, but not as good. Go rockets, and if you have room, chuck a small nos on as well. |

My mistake. I was talking about the Hawk.
As a low sp toon I'm looking to completely specialize to make me as competitive as I can be, faster. Perhaps one day I'll try out the Harpy as well.
Have you had much solo experience with the Hawk? I'm curious as to how to does against cruisers. |

Some other ships I had been considering we're the vengeance and the Malediction. Them being armor tanks I'm worried that they'd prove to be too slow. |

Get EFT and fit them up. Take a look at how they work, then go fly them. |

I assume that's what I'll end up doing. However I felt that it couldn't hurt to see what the forums had to offer. |

I have not flown my Hawk in PvP it is mainly when I get bored flying other ships I break the Hawk out and run L3s and L4s. I know with light missiles on it, it can break the tank of any BS in a L3 and most of them in L4s. Cruisers are cake as well. I know this is PvE instead of PvP but the Hawk is a very soild ship |

What you need sir is a Caldari Navy Hookbill.
As for the Crow, I like that ship, but I'd never fly it solo, it's weaknesses are to obvious, damage to low.
The Hawk is fine choice, though I prefere the Hookbill it has more options than the Hawk |

This is true. The hookbill is sweet. As with all ships there's a few different ways to fit it. I prefer the AB dual web set up(this works on the hawk as well).
AFAIK, the crow was never the fastest ship in the game, not even close, but that really doesn't matter.
give the hookbill a try, you'll like it. I plan on living forever.......so far, so good. |

I honestly go with he Harpy/Hawk for solo PvP, good solid ships. I use both with active cap booster tanks. If you want proof, well:
Harpy kills Moa: http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=13429959 Hawk kills AF and Firetail with no backup: http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_related&kll_id=13600797
And that is why I fly these ships. |

That's actually a very good habit. Excellence is not a skill, it's an attitude.
