Pretty much anything of any value is jump freighted DIRECT FROM HIGH SEC to its destination (with a selection of 30km undock bubble stations on route) totaly bypassing pirate camps.
Skunky, if you sold that 100m mega for 100m isk, you're obviously too dumb to play EVE, let alone catch that freighter with a HIC.
My statement is this: piracy needs two things to get people involved. To be made profitable, and to ditch the ******* stigma that surrounds it.
The, of course, requires imagination and some effort (my personal fav is the passive targeting/cargo scan combo on a spy sitting on the gate). That way I don't waste ammo. I also don't pod (unless you're on my little red list or I'm being paid to kill you). It's a waste of ammo, and just serves to consolidate your rep as an *******. And that also pretty much deals with the other reason I'm not hunted all over EVE, and can come and go in high sec. Keep it professional. One shot, one kill, then have your pals/alts loot the body. They emo in local, simply tell them the truth and keep it professional. (I know you were hauling X and I wanted it and be glad you still have your implants or Someone paid me to make you go boom. No offense.)
It's good to see ONE professional in this cluster of gabbling geese. ------------------------------------------------

This would be awesome.

Do you want more fish in the barrel is that it?
Well friend, theres many more form of pvp then shooting fish in barrel. Lets call it PVEVP player vs enviroment vs player. Aka carebearing, thats where all the PVP is at as you seem to acknowledge, maybe try playing there?

It happens every day. Where do you think all that morphite in Jita and other places comes from? The mineral fairy?
Carriers (soon to be nerfed in this respect), Jump Freighters, (and sometimes, as insane as this sounds, regular ones), leave 0.0/low sec all the time to sell their goods at inflated prices in high sec. It happens someplace almost daily. It's just a matter of knowing when and where. You think that the pilots of these ships are dumb enough to fly into Gonditsa or Amamake? This is why snitches are key.
If you want to ambush the big haul, you have to know where it's going and by what route. What ships to bring, what the defenses are, etc. Planning, my friend, can be more complex then "You, boost me, you, tackle with the ceptor, while I blast them with the Tach Beam IIs." and also can pay in proportion.

For starters I would like to say that EVE is the most incredible game I have ever played, and that says a lot as I have been at it since the days of text only games. The most compelling thing about EVE for me is its complexity, graphics and many layers. There is a type of play experience for everyone.
I admit freely to falling into the carebear category for now as quite frankly I suck at PvP so far and only resort to it in defence. I have lost a few ships learning EVE but I have stuck with the game because there is more to it than just blasting away at things for a cheap thrill.
I think if there was no High Sec and ôrelativeö security for new players this game would not continue to grow as new players would become frustrated with loosing every ship to more advanced or aggressive players and move on to something different.
One thing that makes me curious is if 0.0 is so vast and wonderful why even care about the miners and industrialists toiling away in High Sec?

Edited by: Gsptlsnz on 27/09/2009 07:22:12 @Ghenkat Jumar The biggest difference between EvE as it could be, and EvE as it is, is that the game attracts and keeps griefers.
A large proportion of the player base are motivated solely by the opportunity to make the game less fun for other people. In EvE, these people are the majority, so their playstyle is one of the main paths to high status in EvE (reversing the usual MMORPG hierarchy). They look for easy, low-risk targets, and avoid anything which might fight back.
Naturally areas where many rookies play are infested with them.

Because, as repeatedly explained in this very thread, what happens in hi-sec has a HUGE effect on what happens in 0.0. And Vice versa, ofc.
You have to understand that EvE really is a massively MULTIPLYER game. Everything you do affects everyone else. There is no "I'll leave you alone if you leave me alone" option. The instant you buy or sell anything on the market or contracts, you're in direct PvP.
And it's not the noobs who are the problem in hi-sec. It's the massive industrial operations run by completely killed several-year players which are being subsidised and protected by "noob area" conditions, combined with the almost untouchable logistics capabilities of jump freighters going straight from high-sec to heavily defended alliance POS.
As a very minimum change, Jump Freighters should be excluded from High-sec. This is NOT about "easy ganks for piwats". This is about levelling the playing field for people who want to conduct industry in 0.0.

Edited by: Esk Esme on 27/09/2009 10:48:59 The problem with 0.0 industry is that the major allainces have hold over most the tidy space and like 1/3 of 0.0 is worthless no high end ore's and most ppl are just plain bord of 0.0 the same old crap blob here blob there nap here nap there
so its harder for a small industrail corp or some1 with few industrail alts to get a foot hold unless they join said power block
wormhole's is 1 way to combat this but tbh its a hassle transporting the raw ore if u dnt av rorq in WH space and refine at a pos is just wast of time losing 25% your ore is a joke realy maybe make a pos mod that alows your to open your own worm hole that may help industrails
ppl cry alot about pvp and not enough ppl in lo-sec not enough roams in 0.0 well welcome to EvE ppl its a blob world now with jiant nap fest's
my spelling sux's sue me
btw no1 forcing u to go to 0.0 or to lo-sec or to stay in hi-sec its your game go and do what you like just shame CCP seem to listen to the whiner's and nurf everything that some fool and his dog has cryed long and load enough about
EvE is a universe were u make your own destany play it your way and to hell with rest of you :)

1. Remove insurance for those killed by concord (it is pretty stupid).
2. Make all non-noobs war-deccable (no npc corp after 6 months).
3. Nerf war dec avoidance (i.e. corp hopping).
4. ?
5. Profit

just coz ppl dont play your way or u dnt like something doesnt mean its wrong its called personal choice
EvE is about choice for ech and every player no one player should be able to dictate another's game style

I think all this whining for easy targets kind gives away the truth about EvE PvP though. Too bad the cause of the problem are in denial /lol

I agree; CONCORD providing near-instant omnipotent, inescapable security for free breaks the game in numerous ways. For instance I spend the great majority of my time in 0.0, most of it in combat or looking for combat. Sadly, there is no reason for anyone looking to mine, build ships (except capitals) or research to be in 0.0, since all those activities can be conducted more cheaply and effectively in hi-sec, due to the unmatchable subsidy of CONCORD protection. Much though I would prefer 0.0 to be a vibrant, diverse society, this huge imbalance makes that impossible.
It didn't always use to be this way; a great deal of industrial activity used to go on in 0.0. But repeated and unbalanced buffs to hi-sec mean that industrialists have acted in their own best interest and left 0.0 The introduction of Jump Freighters have exacerbated the situation even further.
As Bellum correctly notes, the first tiny step to correcting this hugely destructive imbalance has been taken. For the sake of the builders, inventors, researchers and miners who would like to experience life outside of hi-sec but cannot economically compete if they do so, I hope CCP takes further and larger steps towards this end.

I'd feel bad about doing that, since I am after all only an evil, emotionally stunted, arrogant, teenaged sociopathic pirate ganker who dreams night and day only of ways to mercilessly grief 2-day noobs. (I have, of course, no interest whatsoever in in mercilessly griefing rich older players who have no compunction about taking advantage of protections meant for new players)
