Edited by: Sabahl on 24/10/2004 13:55:17 So the other day I was having a beer, looking at all the random loot I've picked up since the start of the game, wondering how to dispose of it. Escrow is the norm but it's a tad boring. And then an idea hit me. How about a lucky dip!
And so, the Emolgranlan Lucky Dip was born.
THE PLAN
In the Emolgranlan solar system in Heimatar (sec status 0.5) I have placed 88 small secure cans orbiting Planet 7, Moon 11. (Local seven-eleven. Geddit? Oh suit yourselves.) Each of these cans has a random password which only I know. Each can also has one item of loot from my collection. Every item is either a named meta-module, a tech 2 item or something else of a non-standard nature.
On the Escrow in Emolgranlan I will be placing 88 bookmarks. Each bookmark is numbered from 001 to 088. Within the notes section on each bookmark is the password for the correspondingly numbered can. Each bookmark will be escrowed for 1 mil (and no, you cannot read notes from escrow so you will have to buy the bookmark to find out each password).
So in other words...
1. Fly to Emolgranlan 2. Buy a "Lucky Dip Bookmark Ticket" from Emolgranlan VI 3. Fly to Emolgranlan 7-11 4. Open the can with the password printed in the notes section of your "ticket" 5. Walk away with a fabulous prize!
The Prizes
Naturally, it's all about the loot! Some of it is worth the price of the ticket. Some of it isn't. And of course, a couple of things, just a couple, are jaw-dropping jackpots.
Unfortunately, the spreadsheet I wrote all the items on died and so even I no longer know exactly what is in each can, and I am buggered if I am going to fly around all 88 of the them to write it down again. So if you buy a ticket please come back here and post what you found.
THE EMOLGRANLAN LUCKY DIP IS NOW LIVE. BUY YOUR TICKET TODAY!

Creative, amusing and a bit risky to say the least. After all the scams being executed in EVE how big is the "Faith Factor" - (FF) in this whole endevour?
If all legit, people will certainly enjoy this new "I feel lucky today" kinda dealing...

Well, I am hoping that people will buy a couple of tickets on faith and post up that they did indeed find gear in the cans. If I am really lucky, the first few peeps will happen to find the Good Stuff and will sing the praises of the "game". The cans do exist (you can fly to Emolgranlan 7-11 and see them for yourself. It took me bloody AGES to anchor them all) so all you need to do is buy a ticket and go check one out. Any problems, mail me.
If it is succesful I am sure scammers will try to cash in. So here are some hints.
1. When buying a ticket ONLY buy from Emolgranlan VI - Republic Fleet Assembly Plant and make sure you only buy from Sabahl. You can see my name on the escrow so you have no excuses if you buy from someone else and get ripped off.
2. It is possible I may have zoned out during password seeding on one or two of the cans. If you find you cannot access a can then keep your ticket and notify me. I will check it out and reset the password if necessary. But you MUST have your original ticket so I can check the password (I have a list of all cans and passwords so don't try to pull a fast one. It won't work)

Better luck next time matey.
By the way, I have no idea WHO buys the tickets. The wallet journal doesn't tell you the purchaser of an escrow. So please do post up what you find guys!

How about you post what modules are in the cans so that everyone can see whats there and what not. That would lower the scam risk. Normally the ticket buyer can see whats to win. Still a good idea.

Where woudl the fun be in that? It's a lucky dip. You don't know what you get until you unwrap the parcel!
But I will tell you that there is a bit of almost everything in there, from large named gune to name shield boosters to infinite BPCs to...well...lets just say that my choice for first prize would be an item which won't be dropping again until well into Shiva

What I think he means is that you could publish a list of items that you have placed in the cans... Someone knowing that there is still a set of 4 named Tachyon lasers in the cans might make them want to buy more dip tickets until they find it =) Of course you don't say in which can they are!

Whoa! There was a fundamental problem with this plan. You can cargo scan each can (so you CAN go see what you can win if youw ant to take time to do so).
Unfortunately I was naming each bookmark with the can number. Instant cheaty chops!
I am putting the bookmarks back onto escrow now without the identifier numebr in the title. It will just say "Emolgranlan Lucky Dip". The can number is still visible ont he purchased bookmark though so no problems.
Oh yeah, and whoever had faith and purchased the ticket for can 12, congratulations

I got a Medium Nano Armor Repair Unit II
Funny thing is, i didnt even scan the cargos before, i actually bought my tickets remotely from Venal and got the Price with an alt, so i scored bigtime .
Great work with your Tombola, i hope ypu will setup more events like this in the future. even if i had lost, i enjoyed it a lot.
Edit: i got addicted and purchased some more tickets. This is what i found in addition:
- Stabber BPC ME:3 with infinite runs - Dual 250mm Prototype Railgun - Large Supplemental Shieldextender - 220mm Medium Gallium Machine Gun - Insulated Stabilizer Array I - Dual 150mm Prototype I Railgun - Medium C5L Shieldbooster

Hey Sabahl,
A really Great Idea. We wanted to do something similar a few month ago in 0,0 space, but that would have been too much work for such a small corp. like ours. But maybe , if you like, we could join forces and work out something more challenging
