For the final mission in the epic arc what do people think is the minimum amount of firepower needed to kill dagan solo ? I should be in a caracal with arbalest assualt launchers and 2 bcus by the time I get to that mission, if needed I will by a few hundred faction bloodclaws. With relevant skills at 3/4 will that be enough to kill the version of Dagan given by the caldari agent ?
I can fit heavy launchers instead, but not good named ones, although probably only at HM 2-3. This would be an increase in firepower but will the extra range allow me to avoid damage as I can fit little or no tank with 5 HL.

I ended up doing that mission in a rifter with another noob in a merlin during my first week of the trial. Tried the mission solo a good 3-4 times before I realized my frigate couldn't handle it alone. Try it out and see if your cruiser would be able to finish it alone, if things get hairy just warp out. Better safe than sorry on this one. If you can't finish it alone, just ask in local for some help. Other people will either be on the mission (in which case you have to complete it twice - once for each character) or someone will be nice enough to help you complete it.

My t2 fit rifter would have managed it, barely, given enough time - would have been faster if I was carrying Hail - that was slightly under 100 dps. I got bored & dragged my barely-combat-trained orca pilot in which got the dps over the hump.

Hardly a newbie-friendly fit, but I can attest that an oversized-AB Ishkur blew through him without even going into armour. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

I did it in a Caracal with Arbalest Assault Missile Launchers loaded with standard Bloodclaws. It wasn't that hard, just longer than usual. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |

I did the calderi version too. At the time I was about 2 months old with high learning skills so my combat skills were pretty poor.
I managed it solo in a catalyst destroyer with 7 T1 Blasters with AM ammo and a small armor rep. I used an AB to close before turning it off and orbiting at 500 to reduce damage. I still had to warp off 4-5 times to allow cap and shields to regenerate.
When I got back he had normally regenerated most of his shields but each time i got him a bit further into armor/hull before having to warping off. My little Hobgoblin probably did his part too.

Ishkur is what I used too. Chewed through him and was rather disappointed.
Though it is funny to see people struggle with him. Never have been. Never will be. An Alt. |

i had to wait until i was in a cruiser before i could solo dagan... i think he should be easy for you in that caracal:) enjoy!

Did it solo with a coercer on my trade alt, so not max skills by any means. I had 8 meta 3 beam lasers firing multifrequency, grouped for maximum volley damage. I don't think I used an afterburner but I had to stay right between 10,500 and 11000 meters, any closer and I'd have to pulse my repper too often, any farther and I'd start missing too many shots. Of course, cap stable in between repper pulses cause it takes a long time. * * * Five card stud, nothing wild. And the sky's the limit... |

Soloed in a Coercer, orbiting at 500m iirc. Random meta 1-3 lasers, heat sink, cap regen and an afterburner iirc. Comabt skills were low, guessing in the couple of hundred thousand.

I am pretty new to the game, and I did it solo in a minmatar Thrasher with 7x 200mm autocannons, tech 1, titanium sabot ammo. I had a shield tank with a relatively low-cap-using shield booster, a medium extender, and an afterburner, with a gyrostabilizer and a tracking enhancer in my low slots. I had some rigging that made my shields better somehow. When I chose my allies in mission 48 I said "Amarr" because I read that would make him resistant to lasers, and I don't use lasers.
Anyway, long story short, I went in, orbited him at 500m, and turned my shield booster on, turned it off, turned it on, you know, as capacitor would allow, and kept shooting the guy. It took me many minutes. might've been 15 minutes, I'm not 100% sure, but it was a very very long time. he didn't do enough damage to bring my tank to zero before I killed him, but my damage I did to him was seriously only a tiny bit more than what his tank could recharge/repair -- it took me forever to bring this guy down. But I did it, and I felt pretty cool.

If you're Gallente it can be done in a Catalyst rather easily, just orbit him at 500 using ion blasters(named if possible), with caldari navy antimatter, doable with destroyers 1 and other basic gunnery skills you start with, try to fit 2 magnetic field stabilizers aswell

Edited by: Brainless Bimbo on 26/09/2009 21:24:10 Frigates (T1) are not very good, u¦ll grow a beard b4 he pops, i gave up.
However any destroyer (that most noobs can fly) with a full rack of their bonused short range weapons (T1) and a rocket launcher (T1) in the spare slot orbiting at the optimal turret range, which being a Km or less means Dagan dont hit $h1t... (oh kill all the other crap first so hes on his lonesome) i just used whatever ammo i had in my dessies 200 ac¦s, phased plasma or EMP i can¦t remember which, the rocket was gremlin, all weapons were base T1.... did have an AB so closing to close orbit was fast and damage free.
Why use a sledge hammer when a toffee hammer will suffice!
edit: just read dust above, i had it easy, my support skills are probally much higher and i had a smaller sig radius and faster orbit speed making it a harder target for him to try to hit

Yes you can do it that way.
Its what I had but I did not use any names items. My skills were low at the time, I'd trained for about 2 weeks I think. I knew nothing about fits so I don't think I had any BCU's. I found the main trick was to get the right ammo type which apparently varies according to who you speak to. I took all four missiles and swapped them out to see which was best. It took me about 20 mins though but as someone said earlier you can pulse your repper and out tank his damage. Anyway working out how to do that fight taught me more about the basics of the game than anything else since.

I did that mission in a passive tanked caracal, with 5 assault missile bays and some light missiles. My support skills were rather poor (this was the second day I had the caracal), but I managed to kill him before my shield got below 15%. Of course, this took a good fifteen minutues.

Edited by: Ardion on 27/09/2009 21:06:14 Done easy in rail enyo so you should be fine in caracal if you get some faction lights
Edit: i killed him few times, heh im too nice guy in local |
