I believe that we should be able to paint our ships, this would also add a whole new level of gameplay. But, you should add limits like, set colours for different races and be able to have primary ship colours and secondary colours. But, i know that u identify ships by their colouration, but to identify ships like the absolution from the prophcey you could ad fins to the hull of the absolution thus solving the identification problem. Personally i would greatly enjoy paint my ship. You could also make it cost more for larger ships. If possible that would be great, though i know it will take hundreds of man hours to do this and thousands of dollars to accomplish but it would add a whole new level of gaming

Have a look at the commonly proposed solutions sticky at the top of this every forum. You will find ship painting (player made ship skins I believe it called). It explains why this is a bad idea.
This idea gets posted at least twice a week cause people cannot read the rules and other sticky's. Macrointel, the place were the nature order of the universe does not hold sway. Pirates and ore thief's are congratulated by carebears for the actions. |

I like the idea, being able to change colour of your ship, not freely but maybe like in Homeworld, but there are so much more important things to do, so i guess it will never happen. Besides, when do you look at your ship? In station? In combat you look at battlefield, not at ship. When walking in stations will be relased you wont look at your ship even in stations :)
