I don't see how you can earn money from killing other players. Salvage? Loot? That couldn't allow you to fly very expensive (high meta modules fitted) ships, could it?

Generally, you play the market, or have an alt running missions/ratting.

Loot, Ransom, Salvage, Merc contracts, Rent, Alts.. there are thousands of ways.
Besides there's no reason why anyone needs to do only one or the other. Parrots, commence!

Loot, ransom, salvage (of T2 ships - nets a few extra mil per kill) in roughly that order.

I'd actually say.. ransom, salvage, loot for the order.
Key thing is actually fitting efficiently - no T2/named MWD when it's not needed, same for points/webs. Can go further and switch 1600mm RT plates for next lower meta, etc.
Though you might just be better off doing exploration and then go all out on losing HACs daily, etc

Step 1. Salvage missions + steal from the wrecks till a stupid CNR, Paladin, Golem etc shoots you. Step 2. Return in a neut+torp phoon, Curse, Pilgrim etc Step 3. Destroy, collect you couple of billion isk in loot, pvp for the next 2 years.
Rinse, repeat. Works easier when you are younger, good to bring a friend in a guardian if you don't have the confidence, but 50% of 2b is about half as much as 100% ;) ----------------------------------------------- Mr.Kippling just launched a nuclear holocaust at third world countries! ... Generally the loot from other players will rarely if ever compensate the losses for your ships, unless you strictly go after missionrunners and ratters (ie. the ones that tend not to fight back). To be honest I feel that there should be more means to make a living off from PvP, I've many times spent more isk on ammo than what dropped from the wreckage. Someone suggested that players should be able to harvest corpses with a small chance of giving you implants that were installed on that clone, which I thought was a great suggestion as long as the drop chance is kept small.
The best way to make money though is by ransoming people, that is pretty much the only decent source of income for a pirate unless he gets lucky with faction module or BPO drops.

something like that. I have looted a few bil in drops from wrecks, although a vast majority of that was split a few ways.
increasing player wreck salvage would probably be a good place to start, especially if the ship was rigged... got ~80k in salvage from a golem once, even had 2 tech 2 ccc rigs >.< You're posting again!? Has it really been 5 mins?

Haven't seen this mentioned yet:
Fewer players = better profit.
That bil ransom for that Freighter is pretty nice split two ways or solo and not that great split 5 or 10 and downright weak split 20.

pvpers also do pve to make cash.
IE once in a while ill get bored w/ a corp and leave and buckle down and do missions until i have a billion or so, then join a pvp corp and burn teh cash!
If it weren't for downtime, I wouldn't make stupid posts. |

Play poker at EOH Poker. If you have enough isk to play, and are good at poker, best way to make isk without having to do anything boring in game. Then again I am a banker, so I also make money from you playing, not just from winning myself. If you're interested check us out, http://www.eohpoker.com/

Most every pirate will tell you he makes money off his PvP. I view this like people who come back from Vegas saying they won money. It's not impossible in any given case, but the numbers say most of them are lying. For most people pure PvP is the road to financial ruin.
There are very few straight industrialists in this game. The people you see grubbing for ISK at highsec belts or in the market are doing it to outfit a PvP alt.

Of course there is another way......
My yacht is in the Caribbean.
A lot of vets pour scorn on people who mine or run missions, but most have guilty secrets concerning these activities when it comes to making isk.

A mission is a good way to make isk.
Even tho I am more fond of PVP then mission, I do them once in a while if I get low on isk.
But my super secret trick is not to loose ships (or at the very least, only loose a slight few ships)

Nah dont need any more incentive for pirates to take ransom and blow up victim anyway. If they want to earn more they should ask ransoms more often and if not majority just blows the victim up anyway people might actually pay.

It's really not as hard as you make it out to be. I've paid for all my PvP since PvP'ing 10 days into the game. I had ~50m slapped on me when I started out I think and since then just financed PvP through PvP. ___________________
