FYI, Atlas did indeed support BYRN. However in the end there was no reason for them to defend BYRN, since BYRN had already died out and there was no incentive for Atlas to defend them.
In fact, I believe that even while BYRN was fielding TINY fleets to aid in whatever fights there was, and not really making any difference in the outcomes, Atlas still supported them. Atleast for a while.

In other words, why should Atlas support allies that do absolutely nothing to defend themselves ?

We are getting more Atlas kills with bombers than when we had our half assed MK1 deployment which stopped you fully.

Atlas, after all this time, is still trying to be relevant

Atlas is like the little yipping dog that runs around at your feet and barks "PAY ATTENTION TO ME! I'M IMPORTANT! SEE ME?! I'M BIG! LOVE ME! PAY ATTENTION TO ME!". At the first sign of a bigger dog, or even a large cat, they huddle up and try to make themselves scarce.

Let's see.... Dotlan.. Atlas holds.... 131 systems.. Goons hold... 153 systems.. Goons have some more members, of which about 90% are only on CAOD posting senseless dribble, make only token attempts at support to their so-called blues (which stay blue as long as they dance exactly to the goons partyline, of course) or try to do 'funny stuff' in Empire. Let's see, what about Atlas? Ah yes. Less members than goons, but have a habit of actually sticking up for their blues. WHoa... They may actually be repaid in kind by their blues *SHOCK*. They also seem to actually make a habit of fighting fun fights where it counts, in 0.0.

I know where I'm putting my money for the post-Dominion situation... And it's not on an Atlas-failscade :)
