Greetings
I'm looking to buy 2 x navy issue omens to fly in 0.1 system. I was thinking that this would be faster ship to fly than harbringer and i also have cruiser skill in IV compared to battlecruisers II. So can it take the punishment in 0.1 system and would it be a good ship to rat with in 0.1? If you think it can handle it, how would you fit it?
Also any other T1 or faction ship suggestions? Money is not an issue..
Thank you Respectfully,

A navy omen is probably overkill for lowsec ratting, though I haven't done it in some time.
It's better than a Harbinger in that it's faster and more agile but not as good because it's harder to fit and much more expensive (3x as much, before insurance!) to replace.
If money is not an issue why are you ratting?
I'd fit it with:
5x guns, largest you can fit MWD, web, cap recharger 3 heat sinks, rep, 2x hardeners, last slot can be cap mod / agility mod / more tank whatever rigs 5x light drones

Use an arbitrator.
If you've got no drone skills, get some.
Until then, use an Omen. Those ships are more than enough for low sec ratting. Take a harbi if you must, but with 'just a few mil sp' a navy omen is not something you want to take.

Yes, the omen navy issue will absolutely be faster for low sec ratting. It's not really worth it, though, until you fully fit it with faction or deadspace modules. So make sure you get your moneys worth that way. Convo me in game for some great suggestions on 0.1 areas to rat in.

I would at least wait till Cruiser V then, not to mention your fit will look like someone sneezed on all your mods and you rolled with whatever stuck Sp is required to fit ships as well as play with them

For ratting its awsome, This perma runs with EVERYTHING RUNNING !!!!!!!! I use it for grinding battleships to get sec status. Works a treat !

Train up for a Retribution imo, they're the ultimate package of dps and being able to GTFO if trouble comes your way. A normal cruiser works as well ofcourse. Using a faction cruiser will simply paint a very big target on your ship to a point where any pirate will want to come back and keep an eye on you the whole time, trying to trick you into a mistake. I'd rather be in something small, agile or cheap so they lose interest real fast.

True in some ways, Retribution is awsome, but when you want to kill a BS rat it just takes to long. Although when you compair the prices its by far the best choise. I do like my navy omen and it is a fact that you are a juicy target, so if your going for the 100mil mark,( and can fly it ) go Zealot, Its just better in every way. =)

if you can "smack on 10b of rare stuff" like you say might as well spend a week training up a nightmare and go ratting in that. It pops all rats in low sec in like 1-3 volleys depending on skills.

sorry... I have a bad cold.
More seriously... who else would use a NOmen for lowsec ratting at such low skills?

Please don't get one killed stupidly, it a beautiful ship and deserves better treatment than that.
Plus as others have said managing the fitting and the cap without excellent skills means it's just not worth it.
Harbingers are pretty much the best low sp amarr ship going, they're relatively cheap, don't need pimping to be effective and have enough diversity of fittings that you can get a lot of enjoyment out of squeezing more and more out of them by spending some time on your support skills.
Train BC to IV and enjoy one of the best ships in the game.

The navy omen is pretty, the harbinger is superior in every other possible way including speed. How is it faster you ask? Well, it's basically impossible to stick a MWD on a navy omen (or standard omen) while it's easily tossed on a harbinger. Hence a harbinger will go around 700-1000m/s armor tanked and the navy omen does a whopping 450 with an AB. I advise against the navy omen. It is a very weak ship for it's price and carries a giant "gank me!" sign over it in low sec. You should ignore those who say it should be full faction fit, they are just hoping to laugh at you when you make a 500M isk cruiser that's less effective than a 70M isk harbinger and get wasted in low sec.
I have a navy omen and I pvp with it on occasion. As said, it's greatly inferior to a harbinger. I use it to pvp only in gated missions that disallow anything bigger than a t1 cruiser or when I feel like wracking up a few style points. I would never recommend the ship based on it's performance. On a related note, the navy omen may not be very powerful for it's class and price but the navy slicer is. That thing is a real gem for pvp I'm finding. Also works fine for ratting if that's really what you want to do. -----------------------------------------------------
