is there a specific place in the forum for player suggestions.. i'm not sure how effective it would be. maybe just a place for us to lift up and shoot down each other's ideas regarding the features and content of the game. if there is already this place.. i apologize.
so for instance my suggestion would be to have joystick support (flight simulator style) and then use a mouse for targeting.. hmm i guess that wouldn't work for the hot-key inclined. anyways people would eat this game up like pudding if the flight simulator-ish aspects could be brought to the foreground even on a superficial level. but realistically the ability to point your ship (i'm constantly double clicking direction, orbiting, keeping at distance, and approaching when i fight) and fire via trigger would be really nice.
i'm new forgive me if this topic has already been covered.

I forgive you for suggesting something thats been suggested before and would not work in EVE so expect flames, if you scoll down further on the index you'll see a section named, and wait for it because this is the really shocking part, Features and ideas Discussion

Lies! The idea is new, exciting and isn't on the list of commonly proposed ideas.

EVE is not a twitch flying game. This has been suggested often in the past seven or eight years; it will not come to pass.
If a twitch space fighter game is what you seek, check out Vendetta Online. Last time I played (few years ago), they had a fairly accurate physics model and realistic controls. --- Owl |

I think Jumpgate Evolution may be the game you're looking for. I think this may be under the 'Commonly Proposed Ideas' sticky at the top of this section. ------------------------------------------------ You either need a punch up the throat or a good shag.

thank god for nice people nah i want to stick with eve, and what i suggest is not twitch flying but similar to they way the keyboard is used in wow and many other mmo's superficial direction movement having no effect on any to hit rates once locked etc. only position. anyways when had my first nintendo i was obsessed with "romance of the three kingdoms" so i really have no aversion to pure strategy. ah well i'm sure it could work even with a keyboard but i imagine it would take a game engine overhaul. alas.

So now any form of hand eye coordination is 'twitch'?
I don't think real world pilots would appreciate that.

okay i promise to leave this dead misplaced thread alone after one observation...
if in eve lore a ship reacts to a capsuleer's most subtle minute movements.. then why does it take 5 hours for your ship to react to any direction changes?

Can you really imagine moving 1km long 100k ton vessel? This game is not like Star Wars Rogue Squadron, its more like Star Trek, targeting by moving ship, even frigates, would be really stupid.

Problem is that within EVE your movement affects your hit rate etc once locked on which is why stuff like this wouldn't work in EVE :)

EVE is certainly not the game for this, as pointed out, you're not really a pilot, you're a captain. You give orders through neural links with your ship by just thinking, not moving a joystick. And also the gun turrets and missile bays have CPUs doing the tracking and firing.
You might want to check out Infinity though.

Eve is more a point and click adventure then it is a flightsim. Joysticks would never work. Firing with a trigger? Some ships have 8 high power slots... Do you have 8 triggers on your joystick?
