I know that character and corp-specific data is available via the API, but I would like a few aspx files that spit out market data for an available solar system.
Currently /map/Sovereignty.xml.aspx spits out the sovereignty data, but there are currently no ways to get the correct "official" market data.
Thanks!
P.S. I understand that Eve-Central already has an API for market data, however this isn't an Officially supported location. So I would feel much more comfortable if there was a way to get this data directly from CCP

Edited by: Covert Kitty on 05/10/2009 19:42:48 This wouldn't be a good idea as it would make it really easy to view the status of the entire market at once. This would cause regional prices to fluctuate far less, and make the market much less interesting and less opportunistic overall. If they did that, they might as well ditch regional restrictions on market report viewing as well.
Not to mention how much data that is, they would have to add a fair bit of infrastructure to make that even possible, theres a lot of data out there! The vast majority of the information you can get from the api is fairly small in size and not terribly bandwidth intensive, the entire status of the market is quite a different story.

I suspect the lack of a market data API is very deliberate on CCP's part.
Right now, trading is a profession that requires dedication and patience to find good trade routes and exploit them, but that rewards that dedication with potentially large profits.
If this API was available the profitable routes would be instantly visible via market analysis tools, and the trading profession would be reduced to mere "hauling".

You may be right...
But what about tools developed by Eve-Central, and their database? Currently it's all available now, but unofficially. I'm just asking that an API be made official, that's all :)
For me, I'm going to make an artistically adequate flash version so you can see an animated graph. We'll see what it evolves into...
Probably Adobe Air, Blackberry, & iPhone versions to follow.

having realtime market data on API would be a very bad idea. However perhaps having cached data once every downtime or once every week or so may not be the worst idea ever... Then again, the same implications could arise over time even with cached data.

Well, currently in-game there's a graph showing market data for Median day price, Moving Average, Donchian Channel (whatever that is), for each day.
I'm just trying to make a web-based app that can give quick visualizations and market data, regardless of if you're in-game.
