Was curious under what conditions (if any), you can safely use a smartbomb in highsec. I'm in a mission where I'm surrounded by webbing/scrambling frigates, and was curious if a smartbomb can be used in this situation. I tried it once, but got the concord warning message, so I chickened out. I was far from any acceleration gate, and I am reasonably comfortable there was no body cloaked nearby. Thanks!

Apart from this bit, which you can never know with any certainty, and the fact that some celestial objects (not just gates) will send concord after you, it's perfectly safe…
…although the easiest way to deal with frigates is light drones, so there's no real need for SBs to begin with. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

Also keep in mind that if I'm ninja salvaging, warp into your mission cloaked and see you using smart bombs - I'm going to be heading right for your ship
Just use drones!

I've never had problems with smartbombs in missions. CCP fixed it so that you don't get CONCORD-ed if you damage an acceleration gate or mission structures.

1. Yes, u can use smarties in hi sec.
2. No, i'd recommend against it cuz if someone finds out u use those on a regular basis...
Imagine this, ur in ur big badass bs, in a mish and ur happily smartbombing those pesky friggies, then suddenly concord appears and omgwtfpwnbbq's ur purty bs and prolly just right before that happens u see a covops frig or cruiser warp of and some jerk laughing his ass of in local. ________________________________________________

Except for the fact that you can't activate a smartbomb if its in range of an acceleration gate.

While still in my trial period a guy I met while missioning wanted to show me how bad ass he was and came to help me with my mission. He shows up in his brand new Maelstrom and proceeds to smart bomb the frigs in the mission. Needless to say, he got Concorded microseconds after the first bomb exploded. Confused, he asks me to grab his stuff and bring it back to the station. He had the MOST fail fit you can imagine 5 200mm T1 autocanons, and a single cap recharger well that is what survived . I broght him his stuff, and never saw him again. So my advice is let the SB's stay in low sec and 0.0.

You can use a plain onld tier 1 BS to do the smart bombing, fully insured so if you do get concorded you haven't lost much. Smart bombing with a faction BS or Maurader wouldn't be a very good idea.

I used to use a SBing destroyer in 2/10 plexes ( and you know how busy those are ), it's not *that* unsafe. Just pay attention to where other people are around you.
