TL;DR? When will the station hangers get V3'd, and should they get a total Redesign? and what happen to god **** Quafe station hanger.

Hey, so I was looking at the new ships on SiSi, and Suddenly it struck me. Something has been kinda... forgotten. The station hanger itself. I mean, look at it!

Well it feels like they should maybe... V3 the station hangers?
But seriously, the station hangers are old and outdated, and the new V3 project has now made it more obvious. Also the Captains quarters dock should be visible from the ship hanger view since they should be in sight of each other, doesn't have to happen, but it would be a nice touch. They could have a nice transition animation between ship view and CQ.
Oh and CCP is capable of a good ship hanger. You might be too young to know, but there was a 5th station interior. It has been promised to be upgraded and added back into eve SoonTM. So for you not aware, here is a video in the old quafe station.

I agree.
Especially with the hope that they remove that awfull fog at higher level shaders. That fog removes detail. I prefer lower shader settings in station because then i can actually see the surroundings.

I think you raise a good point. Sitting in stations is has long been a valid playstyle, and with CCP making great strides in expanding this area of the game with the addition of the spin counter and CQ, I think that a graphical overhaul of station interiors would help enrich the game for those who choose this style of play. |

And for those CQ players, they will get amazing space stations to gaze at.
This would be a good chance to flex that Current Eve online art team. I think the new new stuff, like the new bombers or raven, is really nice direction for the art style in eve. I want to see what CCP could bring to the table with their current concept artists for hangers from scratch. but still nostalgic, make it MORE ammar, more caldari. Add like production lines and military lines. Ammo loading into wall. Fill minmtar with pits and steam, and chains, hooks, steel mill looking place with reactors giving off that green fire gas stufff you see on the outside. Lots of ships moving through the stations. include dark couners of the minmatar culture in old light fliclkering, space docks. allente can have lots of culture and shops, big Advertisements.
The best is there was this big ad in the quafe station that read "PLAY EVE PLAY EVE" that sums up the gallente culture pretty well. And ammar should be ... actully that ones allready pretty good. you can see walk ways and little high ways. It could stilll look more awesome but same format.

Well, I might be cynical but it's clearly easier to please the playerbase with a shiny new art asset than it is to fix a broken game mechanic... So I doubt that CCP are going to stop revamping ingame assets. |

A big +1 from me.
Can appreciate CCP's original vision was to remove the hangar environment completely, but it didnt work, so now they need to follow through with the decision to keep it and make it fit in with the rest of the 'world'.
Would love to see it updated and truly hope CCP do in the near future, be a great project for the artists and designers im sure. |

The Art team has implied in previous threads that station redesigning is somthign they are looking forward to do. I wouldn't mind seeing a 5th station type really, but with the current factional warfare aim, i'd also not mind seeing new station interior for factional warfare stations. :) |

We been tryin to redecorate things in the house fer ages. Grandma wanted to change things around on the account that we went to Hawaii and she wanted to chance everything to tiki statues and paintings of beaches with bright colors. But then the very next year we watch this movie where some ninja people can run on trees and poles and then she wanted to decorate everything Asian. This would of been ok except fer the fact that a lot of that stuff is expensive and she has problems lettin go of some things so now we have a unique mixture of Hawaiian and Asian things throughout the house. Ya know my Grandson Jim was a big helper when we were moving things through the house. He's a good kid that Tim. |

one would have to think about the devs that would be needed to work on this... and atm i think they are busy with new pos graphs and new ships...
tbh you would have to convince some dev to work on this on his own time and then present a WIP to see if they could get a team working on it... PLEX FOR PIZZA!

EVE Never Fades - best EVE Online trailer around. It has a sci-fi atmosphere that other trailers cannot create.
Also, I think V3 should be applied first to Minmatar ships, then station exteriors. Interiors are pretty damn cool. |

They need to apply the spiffy texturing thingy to the hanger that they're putting on the ships and have in the CQ, that gives a 3d appearance to the places that should look like there's depth.
That video had an impressive amount of unrealized stuff in it. Kind of made me sad. |

Plus, more station interior types per race (station interiors should be as different as station exteriors, and there are several different station exteriors per race). We need some consistency here just like we have with the wonderful new nebulae.
And bring back the old "pleasure hub" interior, and invent some new whacky ones.
Oh, and before I forget - MAKE THE GODDAMN SHIP/INTERIOR THE SAME PROPORTION FOR BOTH HANGAR VIEW AND CQ VIEW.
Oh and whiel I'm at it, stop all this "generic s-f" **** and bring back some whimsy, evocativeness and mystery to the graphics. I fell in love with EVE partly because of the whimsy. The boring-ification of EVE is pissing me off.
"Goofy" is good, "whacky" is good.

Please do it right the first time:
- add different hangars for different corporations, they change depending on the type of station/outpost. (give me back that spacey gallente hangar that looked like a city! I MISS IT!) - change the exterior... all the stations look the same, make them dependant on corporation as well. - make the hangars a bit more... social? Show other ships entering/leaving and staying in dock or something. Doesn't have to be a lot in case there's hundreds, of not thousands of players on the station. - Come on, get CQ done. Make a public space that also has windows to look outside. Would be EPIC to see those ships and celestial stuff close together. :) Also as OP says: link CQ and hangar together, you should be able to be in hangar view and see where your CQ is, visually.
This would be a very great improvement to EVE... it's not Flying in Space, but it would make EVE feel larger and more connected, for sure.

Also another suggestion. You know the little NPC ships that fly around in station? Yeah those should be based on the number of pilots docked in the station. It doesn't have to be showing real players. It can just be npc ships flying around.
If the people docked in station is 3, you won't see any ship but your own. Maybe a ship once every 12 minutes or so.
But if there are 200 people docked you see a flurry of activity. It serves a practical purpose as well. Lets you judge how many people are docked without counting the list. And it would look badass if they used other real eve online ships instead of those stupid little old fake shuttle ship things. Are they cars? I want to see other eve ships docking, landing, taking off. Battleships, dreads moving slowly across in distance. I know you can do this CCP, you allready have.

Even better would be a total revamp if possible, something to make stations feel alive, like you've actually docked up inside a massive industrial space city. Maybe vehicles flying about like in amarr stations, adverts and buildings like in the old pleasure hubs, that kind of thing. New exteriors would be nice too. But now I'm just listing massive amounts of work. |

We have been given many station exteriors, we should get a corresponding interior to match the size/shape and aesthetic of the stations exterior. If ships get custom corp variation paints with the new V3, why not apply those NPC paint jobs to stations as well according to the corporation. Wouldn't mind if they added new Faction Warfare stations and Pirate Station models.
Also one up to bringing back the good old pleasure hub station interior. Oh do I miss it from playing my first trial account on this game. Also adding and including the active ships types in a visual docking/undocking activity like they did for their videos of each hanger. It could also just include the NPC merchant trade ships and customs ships and more intra-station vehicles like little hover cars/shuttles would be welcomed. Anything to make stations more livelier and busy, includes some semi autonomous announcements in the background chatter of sounds in stations.
With the introduction of the basic WIS Captians Quarters, the balconies should be visible lining the edges of the station enviroment for multiple levels of immersion.

And yeah, if I had to choose who gets V3-¦ed first, Capitals or Stations, my vote is 100% for stations.

Heck CCP, do the stations even before you muck about with Starbases. The stations are the prime living space of your customers. Having them look and behave as cool as the previous posters advised would be a very good idea even from the marketing point of view.
And yes, the quirky and weird things are what makes people notice the game. Not the "gritty look" pandemic, that has turned most SciFi games into boring-land. |

I think that even something as simple as little ships going back and forth from your active ship would be an improvement. I mean seriously how does all your cargo get in and out, along with the ships crew (they need some r&r after the s*** we put them through) and the station crew who do repairs. Could really help make the place feel alive.
Also while we are talking about it (and to save me making a new topic) would like that slay game that is being used as a dust 514promotion on the playstation home, in my CQ, it can help waste some time when camped or waiting for people to get a move on.
