Since when is cutting down the "Interval Default" setting FPS count to 30 FPS better then the 60 FPS that it is now in the current (.101786) build?? Shouldn't patches be about upgrading the performance of the game and not downgrading it? The Devs just screwed up the performance of the client by 50%! The current client runs at 60 FPS with the "Interval Default" setting on, the current Sigi build runs only at 30 FPS. What the hell have You guys done?!
You do realize that EVE doesn't need to be at 60 FPS, right? It's not an FPS, so you don't need split second reaction times to really do anything. If anything, 30 FPS will help ease the load on graphics cards, and leave power available when loading large grids and such.

Edit: And it looks like I'll miss both tests because of class.
Heh... That's a good one mate. Really. So when CCP decides to cut it down to 15 FPS You gonna be also cool with that, right?? Right.

...maybe its time for an upgrade? I am still getting 60 FPS, not like it matters, and it think the new background looks good.

The "Present Interval" is a form of Vertical Synchronization. Vsync sacrifices frames in order to match V-blank signals (and prevent screen tearing.) In order to do this, generally a game will latch to either 60 FPS or 30 FPS depending on how many frames are being consumed each refresh cycle. In your case, your computer is no longer fast enough to handle 60 FPS with the current SISI build (which could happen for a variety of reasons) and probable is at say, 55 FPS. This being the case, the Vsync will latch you to 30 FPS instead.
And this is why you shouldn't turn on Advanced Video settings unless you know what you're doing. If you want to see your uncapped FPS turn Interval settings to "Immediate"

This seems pointless. I have downloaded the latest Sis patch (107648), and guess what.. incompatible version. I really don't see the point of a test server if more often that not (and I regularly hit this problem) there is not a client release or patch to allow you to log on. Z

I seem to be having the same issue... Even went as far as downloading and installing the full build. Still "Incompatible Build".

Edited by: Dae''Vorian on 17/10/2009 10:20:55 likewise several downloads later..
the only way i found that works is to
delete the current sisi install, re-copy my tq install to the ccp folder as copy-of-eve
and then go to
http://www.eveonline.com/patches/patches.asp?s=singularity&test=&system=win
and select the appropriate download from there and install manually.(windows only)
The download says its 1.3mb .. its not, its 689mb currently so slow connections beware. Be advised, ccp keep changing it and I have had to do this now 3 different times because they dont offer patches to reverse whatever they have changed since the last time ! sloppy and annoyingly time consuming tbh. It would be better perhaps to avoid frustration and simply wait til they say they have firmed it up, assuming they ever do.
edit* the last time i managed it to work (yesterday) i had up to date skills so they have mirrored very recently at least :)

We aren't all software geeks!!!! that can follow your seemingly simple instructions and not all of us have years of experience exploring our pc and not all of us have the latest version of windows etc etc etc
Is it too much to ask ? EVERY SINGLE PERSON I have spoke to says it's a nightmare to get around the constant patching and faffing about !!! Cmon guys sort it out please !

1 - Turn on your Computer 2 - Click on your "my computer" Icon" 3 - Click on your hard drive (most likely the C drive) 4 - Click on the program files folder 5 - Find the folder titled CCP - Click on it 6 - Copy your EVE folder and paste it in another folder on your computer of your choice 7 - Go to www.eveonline.com, click EVE client and select singularity (test) 8 - Load up your copy of EVE and in the top left check what the number is on the log on screen *this is your version* 9 - On the download page select that version number in the drop down menu 10 - download and run the patch like any other EVE patch 11 - When it comes to choosing your file location, select the folder that you saved the second copy of eve to, for example (C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE TEST) and click patch, (Make sure you don't select sub folders in this folder) 12 - After this, go INTO the copied client folder (C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE TEST) for example. 13 - Look for the icon called "EVE" 14 - Right click that Icon and select "create shortcut" 15 - you should now have an icon titled "eve-Shortcut" 16 - drag this icon on to your Desktop ( Were the rest of your icons are -.- ) 17 - Right click this icon (eve-shortcut) and select properties 18 - On the new window that opens there will be several tabs, select the "shortcut" tab 19 - On this tab you will see a box that has target written next to it... 20 - In this box it will say something along the lines of ("C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE TEST\eve.exe"), this sentance changes depending on were you saved your EVE 21 - Put a space after this line and copy/paste in /end /LUA:OFF /server:87.237.38.50, so for me it would look like ("C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE TEST\eve.exe" /end /LUA:OFF /server:87.237.38.50)
Simple enough? ^^ 21 steps to installing Singularity

Nice list Ziront, the only thing that is slightly confusing is #8. Aren't we all using the same version on live? The system has always insisted that I download the latest patch before I can play. The current version would appear to be 101786. The patch that is downloaded is called evepremiumpatch101786-107648_test_m.exe
Anyway, followed all of these steps very carefully and I still get the error "Incompatible build". Since this is the third time with no success, I'm thinking there must be something else going on. When the program boots up, it reports the version as 107648, so it appears that the patch is implemented properly. Could this have something to do with cache? I'm tearing my hair out here.

Sorry, my knoledge does not go past what I've written down, I just did exactly what the Wiki told me and It worked, sorry you are ahving problems mate.
And as to 8 - Some people may not have an up-to date test server copy, they may be using an old one etc - Thats why I noted it done as my test server copy was MUCH older than live

This is what "SHOULD" happen: 1) Create a copy of my standard (Tranquility) eve install 2) Go to the Singularity patching site, and download the patch 3) Install the patch 4) Play on singularity
What does happen, is that my current production client is 106796, I download the patch to upgrade my client to 107648, which is what the patching site says, and then I get "Incompatible version". This means CCP have got the singularity server at a different patch level that they have made patches available for. This seems to happen over and over (and over) again, makign the whole concept of testing a farce. I'm a software developer so I love people helping me debug, and I love being the first to find bug in other peoples code (ok, so I'm a geek), but after trying a few times, I get bored with spending time goign through all the hoops, only to find I still can't log on. CCP needs to get their release cycle sorted, so when they release a new singularity patch, they either release a patch for it, or post a note saying "Please don't waste you time tring to log on, because you wont be able to". Otherwise people will just give up, and the concept of others debugging and therefore helping them, goes away.
COME ON CCP, GET IT TOGETHER. We WANT to help out, and it's in our interest to do so, so please help us, help you !!

Do you add "/end /LUA:OFF /server:87.237.38.50)" to the end of your new shortcut? ... All I know is I followed CCPs instructions very closely, which were quite straight foward really, and I've never had a problem with it, GL sorting it out

Edited by: Dae''Vorian on 18/10/2009 11:38:29 aye I now get exactly the same result as zarnoo, build 106796 which updates to Latest Build 107648 which then says incompatible version. For teh love of god why dont you (ccp) expand the ubiquitous message ''incompatible version'' to include the current correct version so we know what to look for ie ''incompatible version, use build xxxxxx'' a link to that patch would also be bloody useful save us having to pick our way through looking for it if it even exists. frankly this is so frustrating it takes around 30 minutes to go through all the hoops and im tired of trying it. I am close to not bothering now and while im not a 'geek' as such i do know what im doing generally on computers.... and yes i added the switches to the link :) to no effect :(

I get the same thing, incompatible build when I'm at 107648. I'm a noob on TQ so I guess it doesnt matter much anyway as there's not much I can test, but all the same I wanted to help with the testing. CCP you should list the expected build, at least in the notes.

and ccp fix this for heaven's sake it's ridiculous to expect people to go to this much hassle to HELP you to get it right !
1) Add the info to teh startup page as to which is the current build version instead of just saying incompatible build... this is known as customer CARE :)
2) Add a link to the correct patch, its not rocket science to do this !
3) keep the patch links page up to date, this one isnt even listed there as far as i can see !

Also, will we be provided with ships if we don't have the skills for larger vessels? (btw i've never been on the test server but i've seen vids on youtube on how to get on it)
BS's or bigger are no fun, don't let them tell you otherwise. The bigger the ship, the less fun.

As an active subscriber and tester / bug reporter i can say i'm very disappointed with you guys ( CCP`s )
You have the nerve to ask us to test / bug report the game and when we actually have the spare time and want to do it we have to wait for freaking hours in a queue to login on the TEST server ?!?! Yes i know the "last month 1k pilots online on sisi" was a fluke event but seriously!
Start reinforcing the sisi cluster in order for the 400+ expected pilots events to run smooth. Don`t expect anyone that has trouble getting in or lagging like hell while buying items to fit their ships to actually post in the "feedback thread"
No we don't expect to get "special items or rights" because we're testers. We're here to lend a hand and to insure that the game we love gets the attention it deserves.

With Dominion we will begin supporting Windows 7! Remember though, that Windows 7 is a very new operating system and many hardware manufacturers still do not have full driver support for it yet. You should expect to encounter some issues initially if you choose to use this new operating system.
That said, we very much want to get feedback from Windows 7 users about their experience in EVE. We strongly encourage you to join in these tests and be sure to visit our feedback thread to tell us what you think and what your experience was like.
Also be aware that we've added the Sovereignty test back into the schedule, this Friday.

another thing you can try is this,
open 'my computer' navigate to where yr sisi install is, mine is (c:\programs\ccp\copy_of_eve) open and edit the common.ini file in word, notepad etc to change the build=xxxxxx to the latest build number close and save the file and run the repair.exe app in the same folder.
this worked to get me to 109210 and from there i was able to run the prog and use the auto installer for 110372 which appears to be the latest atm (28/10/09)... although this said it failed it actually seems to have worked !! beats me lol.
