Dominion is just around the corner and it brings more improvements and enhancements with it. We think you'll be happy with the changes we've made; of course now we need to put it to the test in a "live-like" situation! To that end we will be running a series of fleet fights and other mass-tests on our main test server, Singularity.
These tests will begin Wednesday, August 5. We need at least 100 pilots, preferably 400+ā the more people who show up, the better. _________________________________ Test schedule:
Thursday [October 15] @ 17:00 GMT Friday [October 17] @ 18:00 GMT -- Sovereignty test Thursday [October 29] @ 17:00 GMT _________________________________
How to connect to Singularity for this test:
- Make a copy of the current Tranquility (TQ) client
- Visit the Sisi patch page.
- Patch the copied client to the Singularity build
- Login to the singularity test server
- Join the in-game channel "FleetTesting"
- Disable brackets | Read here if you're not sure how
- Listen for instructions and ask questions in-channel
What exactly is being tested?
- First part of the test will focus on Fleet vs. Fleet open combat
- Second we will move the engagement to a Starbase-siege (POS)
- You should pay attention to your FPS (use ctrl+f to view in-game)
- Anyone able to use multiple accounts is strongly encouraged to bring your alts!
- CCP staff and ISD will be on hand prior to the test to help move players to the starting location
- Don't forget to fill out the feedback thread after the test (links will be clearly posted at the end of the test!)
What should I bring?
- You will want a Battleship, carrier, dread, or support ship
- Use drones!
- Give weapon linking a try
- Spider tanks 4tw

An issue has been found on the test server which may force us to postpone the mass-testing. We are hoping to have things sorted out in time, but we may need to re-schedule the tests for next week or later.
I will update this thread with more information as soon as I have it.

i guess the answer to tiskar's question will answer this to. Since im fairly new to EVE and still working on my cruisers, i was wondering about smaller ships becuase you said to bring BS and cap ships. Also, will we be provided with ships if we don't have the skills for larger vessels?

Wait, you're actually having a full round of testing, more than a month in advance of the announced release date?
Someone pinch me, this must be a dream. Good job, CCP.

One complaint I keep hearing about SiSi is that it's using...how to put it...sub-par hardware to keep it up and running. Conspiracy theorists claim that a trio of a ZX Spectrum, an Atari 2600 and a wooden abacus are keeping the server going. Are there plans to either upgrade or temporarily reinforce the test server during this round of testing? |

Any chance that logging in might take minutes rather than hours? I waited like 2 hours to test the cap ship thing. Course it was worth it, but it might help numbers if logging in wasnt a pain.
Also, (off topic) why do cap ships warp sideways?

For luls. Also due to programming restrictions and the way Aligning is done. _____________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

Respecfully request you man the MOVEME channel 23/7 during these tests.
Hours of wasted time spent logging in plus another 45 mins autopiloting a shuttle to FD- doesn't make fio a happy tester
Should be a CSM requirement to man the moveme channel for an hour a day :)

you could set a clone to one of your academy clone spots and then it wont be 45 mins ap trip :) but its still a valid point you make here.

We've sorted the issues with Singularity and are now back on schedule!
Rest assured folks; Singularity will be available and open in time for the test.
Don't forget to grab a copy of the SiSi client at least half an hour ahead of time to ensure you can be ready on time and don't miss any of the fun :)

if you can fly amarr i would suggest coming in a double plated maller then. that has alot of hp and you can function as a tanked tackler and not die inatsntly but just to be sure fit out multiple ones so that if you die you can be right back in it with a new one.

Nope, I'm Gallente but I fly Minmatar. Did you know Mechanic is called Duct Tape Skillz in Minmatar territory?
Anyway, I'd rather come as a tackler or something. Though the average lifetime of a tackler in a battle as big as this would be 3 seconds... -----

This From personal experience (mainly connection status checks and hair-removing due to haivng to reconnect), i've found they sure as hell create lag when the torps hit |

all items you can buy on the market at special stations (t1 and t2) can be purchased for 100isk yes
Anything on contracts can be picked up by buying 10dreads and insuring them, then self destruct them for payout :)

Moar info!
Some answers to various questions that have come up, in no particular order:
- Singularity will indeed be up, open to players, and even have a brand new mirror for this test!
- Anything you do on Sisi will have absolutely no impact on your characters on TQ (Tranquility)
- The fight will take place in FD-MLJ, but CCP/ISD will be on hand in the 'MoveMe' channel to move you to the test location
- If you cannot fly a battleship, bring the biggest ship you can fly (even if it's a n00b ship, we still can use your help!)
- We will not adjust anyone's skills, or any other character information for this test; asking will get you laughed at.
- DO NOT USE SMARTBOMBS / BOMBS!!!!!!!!! (seriously, podding people on Sisi, even accidentally, is not cool)
- The market in FD-MLJ (test system) will be fully seeded with ships/modules/etc for 100 ISK each.
- Saddly, there is still no Mac client for Singularity
- You should always try to run logserver when you are on Sisi
- DO NOT USE SMARTBOMBS / BOMBS!!!!!!!!!

Seems like, although the changes have farther reaching affects on players day to day lives in eve than how much damage a titan can do, they have received little to no time for public testing and vetting thus far.

I already have a feedback about the new biuld that is running on Sigi. Since when is cutting down the "Interval Default" setting FPS count to 30 FPS better then the 60 FPS that it is now in the current (.101786) build?? Shouldn't patches be about upgrading the performance of the game and not downgrading it? The Devs just screwed up the performance of the client by 50%! The current client runs at 60 FPS with the "Interval Default" setting on, the current Sigi build runs only at 30 FPS. What the hell have You guys done?!

You do realize that EVE doesn't need to be at 60 FPS, right? It's not an FPS, so you don't need split second reaction times to really do anything. If anything, 30 FPS will help ease the load on graphics cards, and leave power available when loading large grids and such.

Heh... That's a good one mate. Really. So when CCP decides to cut it down to 15 FPS You gonna be also cool with that, right?? Right.

The "Present Interval" is a form of Vertical Synchronization. Vsync sacrifices frames in order to match V-blank signals (and prevent screen tearing.) In order to do this, generally a game will latch to either 60 FPS or 30 FPS depending on how many frames are being consumed each refresh cycle. In your case, your computer is no longer fast enough to handle 60 FPS with the current SISI build (which could happen for a variety of reasons) and probable is at say, 55 FPS. This being the case, the Vsync will latch you to 30 FPS instead.
And this is why you shouldn't turn on Advanced Video settings unless you know what you're doing. If you want to see your uncapped FPS turn Interval settings to "Immediate"

This seems pointless. I have downloaded the latest Sis patch (107648), and guess what.. incompatible version. I really don't see the point of a test server if more often that not (and I regularly hit this problem) there is not a client release or patch to allow you to log on. Z

I seem to be having the same issue... Even went as far as downloading and installing the full build. Still "Incompatible Build".

Edited by: Dae''Vorian on 17/10/2009 10:20:55 likewise several downloads later..
the only way i found that works is to
delete the current sisi install, re-copy my tq install to the ccp folder as copy-of-eve
and then go to
http://www.eveonline.com/patches/patches.asp?s=singularity&test=&system=win
and select the appropriate download from there and install manually.(windows only)
The download says its 1.3mb .. its not, its 689mb currently so slow connections beware. Be advised, ccp keep changing it and I have had to do this now 3 different times because they dont offer patches to reverse whatever they have changed since the last time ! sloppy and annoyingly time consuming tbh. It would be better perhaps to avoid frustration and simply wait til they say they have firmed it up, assuming they ever do.
edit* the last time i managed it to work (yesterday) i had up to date skills so they have mirrored very recently at least :)

1 - Turn on your Computer 2 - Click on your "my computer" Icon" 3 - Click on your hard drive (most likely the C drive) 4 - Click on the program files folder 5 - Find the folder titled CCP - Click on it 6 - Copy your EVE folder and paste it in another folder on your computer of your choice 7 - Go to www.eveonline.com, click EVE client and select singularity (test) 8 - Load up your copy of EVE and in the top left check what the number is on the log on screen *this is your version* 9 - On the download page select that version number in the drop down menu 10 - download and run the patch like any other EVE patch 11 - When it comes to choosing your file location, select the folder that you saved the second copy of eve to, for example (C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE TEST) and click patch, (Make sure you don't select sub folders in this folder) 12 - After this, go INTO the copied client folder (C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE TEST) for example. 13 - Look for the icon called "EVE" 14 - Right click that Icon and select "create shortcut" 15 - you should now have an icon titled "eve-Shortcut" 16 - drag this icon on to your Desktop ( Were the rest of your icons are -.- ) 17 - Right click this icon (eve-shortcut) and select properties 18 - On the new window that opens there will be several tabs, select the "shortcut" tab 19 - On this tab you will see a box that has target written next to it... 20 - In this box it will say something along the lines of ("C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE TEST\eve.exe"), this sentance changes depending on were you saved your EVE 21 - Put a space after this line and copy/paste in /end /LUA:OFF /server:87.237.38.50, so for me it would look like ("C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE TEST\eve.exe" /end /LUA:OFF /server:87.237.38.50)

Nice list Ziront, the only thing that is slightly confusing is #8. Aren't we all using the same version on live? The system has always insisted that I download the latest patch before I can play. The current version would appear to be 101786. The patch that is downloaded is called evepremiumpatch101786-107648_test_m.exe
Anyway, followed all of these steps very carefully and I still get the error "Incompatible build". Since this is the third time with no success, I'm thinking there must be something else going on. When the program boots up, it reports the version as 107648, so it appears that the patch is implemented properly. Could this have something to do with cache? I'm tearing my hair out here.

Sorry, my knoledge does not go past what I've written down, I just did exactly what the Wiki told me and It worked, sorry you are ahving problems mate.
And as to 8 - Some people may not have an up-to date test server copy, they may be using an old one etc - Thats why I noted it done as my test server copy was MUCH older than live

This is what "SHOULD" happen: 1) Create a copy of my standard (Tranquility) eve install 2) Go to the Singularity patching site, and download the patch 3) Install the patch 4) Play on singularity
What does happen, is that my current production client is 106796, I download the patch to upgrade my client to 107648, which is what the patching site says, and then I get "Incompatible version". This means CCP have got the singularity server at a different patch level that they have made patches available for. This seems to happen over and over (and over) again, makign the whole concept of testing a farce. I'm a software developer so I love people helping me debug, and I love being the first to find bug in other peoples code (ok, so I'm a geek), but after trying a few times, I get bored with spending time goign through all the hoops, only to find I still can't log on. CCP needs to get their release cycle sorted, so when they release a new singularity patch, they either release a patch for it, or post a note saying "Please don't waste you time tring to log on, because you wont be able to". Otherwise people will just give up, and the concept of others debugging and therefore helping them, goes away.
COME ON CCP, GET IT TOGETHER. We WANT to help out, and it's in our interest to do so, so please help us, help you !!

Do you add "/end /LUA:OFF /server:87.237.38.50)" to the end of your new shortcut? ... All I know is I followed CCPs instructions very closely, which were quite straight foward really, and I've never had a problem with it, GL sorting it out

Edited by: Dae''Vorian on 18/10/2009 11:38:29 aye I now get exactly the same result as zarnoo, build 106796 which updates to Latest Build 107648 which then says incompatible version. For teh love of god why dont you (ccp) expand the ubiquitous message ''incompatible version'' to include the current correct version so we know what to look for ie ''incompatible version, use build xxxxxx'' a link to that patch would also be bloody useful save us having to pick our way through looking for it if it even exists. frankly this is so frustrating it takes around 30 minutes to go through all the hoops and im tired of trying it. I am close to not bothering now and while im not a 'geek' as such i do know what im doing generally on computers.... and yes i added the switches to the link :) to no effect :(

BS's or bigger are no fun, don't let them tell you otherwise. The bigger the ship, the less fun.

As an active subscriber and tester / bug reporter i can say i'm very disappointed with you guys ( CCP`s )
You have the nerve to ask us to test / bug report the game and when we actually have the spare time and want to do it we have to wait for freaking hours in a queue to login on the TEST server ?!?! Yes i know the "last month 1k pilots online on sisi" was a fluke event but seriously!
Start reinforcing the sisi cluster in order for the 400+ expected pilots events to run smooth. Don`t expect anyone that has trouble getting in or lagging like hell while buying items to fit their ships to actually post in the "feedback thread"
No we don't expect to get "special items or rights" because we're testers. We're here to lend a hand and to insure that the game we love gets the attention it deserves.

With Dominion we will begin supporting Windows 7! Remember though, that Windows 7 is a very new operating system and many hardware manufacturers still do not have full driver support for it yet. You should expect to encounter some issues initially if you choose to use this new operating system.
That said, we very much want to get feedback from Windows 7 users about their experience in EVE. We strongly encourage you to join in these tests and be sure to visit our feedback thread to tell us what you think and what your experience was like.
Also be aware that we've added the Sovereignty test back into the schedule, this Friday.

another thing you can try is this,
open 'my computer' navigate to where yr sisi install is, mine is (c:\programs\ccp\copy_of_eve) open and edit the common.ini file in word, notepad etc to change the build=xxxxxx to the latest build number close and save the file and run the repair.exe app in the same folder.
this worked to get me to 109210 and from there i was able to run the prog and use the auto installer for 110372 which appears to be the latest atm (28/10/09)... although this said it failed it actually seems to have worked !! beats me lol.

Unfortunately Singularity doesn't appear to want to work. Not only that, the singularity install seems to be very unaware that, even though I specified a completely different folder than my Tranquility install for it to be put in, I don't want it to mess with my tranquility install, which it has done.
Now the question I have is whether or not I can tell it to look for the Singularity server address without completely uninstalling, both installs, of EVE.

I hope MAC users can likewise participate. Yesterday i had to switch back to PC, and it seems that there is still a patch/client for PC to download. I also hope that it works until release on Dec 1st. But it would be much greater if Mac users can participate the mass tests.

Hmm I has test install and used it 2 days ago and now when I log in it says I have to d/l a huge upgrade which so far has another 6 hrs to go wtf ?!
That may definitely delay u getting enough ppl to test in half an hours time unless they have 100mb internet connections :(

I've updated to 117460 and the start.ini is still pointing to TQ
I pointed this out at 11:40. I guess CCP are not watching this thread.

It does on mine, too, but it seems to be ignored. In other words, it is the switch you have in the Shortcut that determines the server. So adjust you EVE shortcut to contain D:\.wherevere.youve placed.it\EVETST\eve.exe /server:87.237.38.50

Thank you v.much. I'd deleted that shortcut since I prefer the main TQ shortcut on my desktop. I am now up and running thanks to you.

Don't know if this has already been quoted on this thread - tbh I don't post as I can't be bothered to read through posts.
I downloaded & installed the SiSi update patch this morning, I later tried to run EVE Tranq and it wouldn't work...
...after a little investigation I found that the Tranq shortcut had been re-directed at the SiSi (not working) exe.
If you don't know how to change the target file of an exe follow these steps:
1) Right click on the shortcut and select "Properties" 2) Change the "Target" path to match you EVE Tranq location 3) Test & Run
...failing this just delete your Tranq short cut and then re-create it from your EVE Tranq exe usually located in the "C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE" folder, by default.
Hope this helps someone.

:D This button no longer exists in Dominion. In the chat window you find (on the top-right) what you're looking for.

I'd bring a Dread if they'd update my farking mirror... /=
I've been flying dreads on TQ for almost a month now, still nothing on SiSi.
Same for my Carrier Alt.
My Mirrors are all super outdated. Any news on a mirror update before these final tests? (At least the /final/ one)

And up to todays domi patch all was working fine. After todays domi patch after the new nice domi picture it goes to black and nothing except a mouse pointer is showing . Even made a fresh copy and downloaded the full sisi patch, same result. Anybody else with the some issue?
