CanÆt find any recent posts on this so IÆll ask. IÆve only just got round to training up interceptors. I have all the supporting tackle, fitting, gunnery and missile skills so which do I go for crow or raptor? Next question how do I fit it? I remember the nano nerf happened a while back, but paid no attention as I only ever flew slow clunky things. What rigs/lows should I be looking for if I want to fly in small gangs / solo and just go fast.
Thanks Bene Gesserit is recruiting. |

Raptor - tackle inty. Crow - combat inty.
In gang you role will probably be to tackle - so use raptor. Its worst of all tackle intys, but it will do its job. Crow is little bit faster and does little bit more dps, but doesnt have point range bonus - and still dies very easy to other combat inty. Also killing drones is very hard with smls.
[Raptor, New Setup 1] Damage Control II Overdrive Injector System II Overdrive Injector System II
Phased Monopropellant I Hydrazine Boosters Sensor Booster II Warp Disruptor II
75mm Gatling Rail II, Antimatter Charge S 75mm Gatling Rail II, Antimatter Charge S 75mm Gatling Rail II, Antimatter Charge S Standard Missile Launcher II, Sabretooth Light Missile
Small Ionic Field Projector I Small Polycarbon Engine Housing I
Its slow, so be careful with combat inties around. Guns are there for some drone shooting /they should work if you have decent orbit and speed/. You can replace dc for nano if you like.

The important thing to remember with interceptors is that their primary role is to get an initial point on a potential target, with others such as anti-support and DPS coming pale seconds (usually). You may have noticed but for each race there are 2 frigates; one with greater offensive capabilities and one which sacrafices this for greater point range. in the case of the caldari, Crow = dogfighter/general purpose interceptor and the Raptor = long range initial tackle. The crow is an interesting interceptor to fly as the use of missiles means that it dosen't have to worry (as much) about traversal, therefore frees up a slot for propultion mods/nano.
As for the nano nerf, it did hit a number of ships hard but interceptors were not one of them. They maintain their high rate of speed coupled with their low signature radius which makes them difficult targets to track in regular PvP circumstances. Whilst im sure some people would disagree, 4-5km/s is perfectly adequate as a speed for inties, any more just makes things a little too extreme. However, without fail stay outside the zone of death (10km or less) from any target you engage as interceptors tank=speed. loose that to webs (or worse disruptors) and pain tends to follow quite swiftly.
Inties are certainally an interesting ship class to fly, they're one of the only classes where actual piloting flight skill count (sure orbit @ 10km works for a slow BS but Vs. another interceptor orbit/follow gets you dead). My advice is to have some fun piloting them, get used to slingshotting onto a target (belt rats are good practice) so that you land at your optimal and avoid the ZOD. Tech II fittings are the way to do, especially with the crow which benefits greatly from the extra range granted by the long range missile variants. The final port of call is to decide what suits your playstyle more; more speed/manouverability with rigs (polycarbonate engine housings etc) or extra range (or even DPS if in small gangs) from missile ralated rigs. Have a play around and enjoy
Good hunting o7

Well yeah, mona is right. There is no chance you wil do full damage to most of your targets /frig hulls/. But its not alot less dps when we are talking about dps from lr point range.
And blaster raptor... just use ranis if you like this style of combat, its only few days for gall frig.

Yes, you can use ranis, but everyone expects 200+ dps from from it and no one expects 150dps from craptor.

Yes, raptor has that "crap factor", but ranis is better ship. You will die more often in raptor than in ranis, but yes its possible to fly it that way.
And i cant say i saw you alot in raptor around make-kam morel, most time you were in ranis...

Thanks for the advice. IÆd have preferred to have the scram bonus on the crow as that has the missile range to make use of it. The bonus on the blastercraptor seems to be self defeating given how close you are going to be. It has also dawned on me that IÆm merrily posting my ceptor noobness using my main account. When will I ever learn? Bene Gesserit is recruiting. |

yeh cant fly one, but I got buddies who do. been thinking of training for it just because of the "wut raptor fighting back?" effect. it gets really tedious when even vagabonds run from your ranis :( Reward small gang/solo pvp!
