My CPU usually sits around 42C and my MoBo about 20C. I'll be playing for a bit then all of a sudden the alarm goes off. I open the temp probe and my CPU spiked to about 80C and my MoBo about 46C, 2 secs later it drops back to normal. Anyone know why this happens? or is my probe messed up? Thanks for the help.
system: 3200 AMD XP GF Ti 4200 (128mb) 768 RAM 120g HDD 7200rpm Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe nForce2 Ultra400 MoBo
and is my average PC temp normal?

If the temp goes back to normal in almost no time theres probely nothing wrong with it. Maybe just another program that interferes.

I had a similar problem with ASUS CUV4X, but in that case it was the voltages that jumped. That was later "fixed" in a bios update that removed the jumping sensors.
It's completely impossible for the temperature to jump up and down so fast, so there is nothing wrong with that. Could be interference from something... maybe your computer isn't properly grounded? Also, check for new bios updates (be careful when upgrading the bios though, do it wrong and you'll prolly have to buy a new mobo).
