Meaning if you see jita to the north, and there is a big blue nebual near it. it will get bigger as you get more and more jumps closer to jita. so finding a system with lots of black will be your job instead. TURN INTO A planet!! O.o you can now see all of the planets in a system form anywhere!

So actually its a great achievement to bring in the same quality you show with minimal performance loss. I'm pretty sure the CG artists and programmers at CCP could make photorealistic graphics that would make us all walk in dippers for a long time, but we would all drop to 1 frame per hour

X3 does it with a "picture" (and its not even always that nice), EVE has real procedurally generated objects, as explained on fanfest. Its not even a matter of computer/server power, its a matter of making tausands of different planets actually look different. CCP did it, and if they expand on this technology one day they maybe even generate the planet surface in nice detail (like infinity plans to do) for us to fly down, land...whatever.
