Slightly adjusted for additional sentiments, but defintely in agreement.
A year from now, people will be going 'remember when...', and the old nebula backgrounds will be Eve lore. Have to admit, I'll miss the nebula in Kaira. It always did look forboding before jumping into A2.

Hopefully CCP knows by now that stars do NOT twinkle unless viewed through an atmosphere. From space they wouldn't twinkle. Stop the twinkling.

The twinkling is because of the lenses on the camera drones.

Yes, and ships don't have underwater physics in space. But in the end its a game.

Thankyou Daelorn. It does look good. And no blinky stars. They just get better the closer I zoom in. The planets are orgasms that don't need batteries. Thankyou for linking for me.

Well, a friend of mine once explained that stars "twinkle" because they're smaller than our eyes can perceive them. They're basically point sources, so we only see them occasionally, when our rods and cones can catch them. Of course an atmosphere doesn't help. But they could still "twinkle" when in space.
I'm just saying.

So has anyone flown to the Eve Gate on SiSi? Would be interesting to know if some special arrangements for graphics update was made just for that system.

They're changing all the planets. Every one of them. They only changed a few on SiSi to begin with. But in Dominion, they are ALL getting the treatment.

Looking great so far.
But the central sun in the solar systems is still far to bright.
From 30+ AU the sun should be very small only and not like a huge ball of fire. And from 100+ AU the sun shouldn't be more than a small point in the sky!
The light distribution throughout the solar system is far from the central sun to constant! The core area should be much brighter and the outer space should be much darker. So that you really get a feeling of the space!

you, sir, are getting it all wrong. X3 does it with a "picture" (and its not even always that nice), EVE has real procedurally generated objects, as explained on fanfest. Its not even a matter of computer/server power, its a matter of making tausands of different planets actually look different. CCP did it, and if they expand on this technology one day they maybe even generate the planet surface in nice detail (like infinity plans to do) for us to fly down, land...whatever.
Eh, Infinity does that, yes. I don't know about X3, at least I know it renders them in 3D, whether they are pre-designed or not (when you say "picture", you mean 3d textured model, rather than single texture billboard, as Eve used to do or does at the moment [texture imposters]). Whatever the new technique is, it's far, far better than the existing one. The only problem is you can't fly down to them, as you can/could/possibly will be able to in Infinity!
It's about time I got something worthy of my 1Gb 4890, even with 3 clients running ;).

So CCP manages to put white dots onto the background.
Wow. That is sooo... 1980 ??
Off course they are harnessing most recent quantum computing rocket science technology for this insanely complex and complicated task - or maybe they just borrowed the "tech" from microsofts "starfield"-screensaver ??

Might be because Caldari Prime is an almost uninhabitable piece of crap, and that any planet with oceans will have a significant cloud cover. So they might just be temporarily covered by clouds. ---- The Demigodess with a Conscience - An EVE IC Blog |

Well good job on not staying up to date. At Fanfest they clearly said that planets are now procedurally generated, and therefore they need only apply one bit of code and all planets will render in a new shape. The prime planets probably got some handcrafty lurve, since they are "special". ---- The Demigodess with a Conscience - An EVE IC Blog |
